X: *snorts* Well, you can both relax. I’m ok. *Uchechi raises eyebrows* We had brunch this morning, like old times—

J: And yet here we sit at the bar… like old times.

X: I thought we were just catching up.

X: Believe it or not, I’ve been doing ok, you know.

J: You have. And as your friends, we’re just making sure you continue.

X: I said my goodbyes this evening. I’ve no plans to see her again before I leave. The way I see it, she’s happy and I’m happy for her.

X: *smirk* I’m getting there. Not sure why I thought it’d be easier than this.

U: Cause you have a good heart.

J: What are you doing the rest of the week?

X: One of my boys from school got married and moved out here a few years back. Gonna visit him and his wife for 2 days… then, who knows?

Xan: *shrugs* Well, I’m here now. *Julian waves him off* Congratulations… both of you.

Obie: Thank you. Glad you could make it.

Walker: *touched* You came?

Xan: You think I’d miss this? Not on your life. Nor could I ever show my face back East if I did. *smirk*

Obie: *clicks his tongue* Clem is making a beeline for your parents. You ok?

Walker: Go. I’m good.

Obie: If I don’t get to speak to you… Thanks for coming.

Xan: Thanks. And really, man, congrats. *Obie nods*

Walker: I’m surprised you came. Happy, but surprised.

Xan: *chuckles* That makes three of us. *Walker laughs* And let’s be honest; neither one of us would have forgiven me if I didn’t.

Walker: Damn skippy! How have you been?

Xan: Busy. Crazy busy, actually. But I’m good. *Walker raises her eyebrow* I’m ok, mom. I promise.

Walker: *giggles* You look… well.

Xan: Thanks. I’m… figuring things out. The Valley seems to be treating you well?

Walker: I can’t complain. I just hate that I have to drive everywhere, you know?

Xan: *chuckles* Oh, I know. But I’m sure you’re getting your steps in with your new fur-baby.

Walker: Ehhh… *both laugh* Tater-tot’s indignant at the sight of his leash! Pretty sure training him is gonna be hell.

Xan: *shakes head* Unacceptable! How could you not have him trained yet? He’s been with you, what? A week now?

Walker: Oh, shut up, you! *Xander laughs* At least my building allows pets!

Xan: Shots fired! *Walker grins* Well, if you must know, my new place will allow them too.

Walker: New place?

Xan: Yep! I’m hunting for a place in the Spice District. After my last promotion, it might be easier if I’m closer to the office.

Walker: Wow! Watcher! Congratulations!

Izzy: Me?! Oh no! Matty, Dirk and I helped pad the guest list a little, but this is all Penny’s doing. Apparently her nepo baby boss screwed up and called Penn to the rescue.

Matteo: They’re lucky we were aiming for a quiet evening this year.

Walker: Where is she?

U: Oh! Speaking of Winterfest, we’re visiting my folks in Sunset Valley this year!

U: Yup! My sister, Izogie, is due next month, so, they want to stay close.

W: So, what you’re really saying is, you’re coming to see our place?

U: I coulda kept it to myself and just shown up without so much as a word, but I figure it best to give warning so you two can hide your toys. * hysterical laughter*

O: *clears throat before giving an apprehensive chuckle* I think this may be a little beyond my skill set sir!

Daddy and uncle Chi showed Obie the ropes for another twenty minutes or so, before getting cleaned up for lunch. I was pulled away beforehand by Uchechi to help oversee the baby Pears’ clean up and table setting escapades.

A storm was brewing; I could feel it. What I didn’t know, however, was how bad it was going to be. In a house full of eleven sims and a dog, there was a constant stream of activity and Obie and I didn’t have a moment alone for the rest of the day.

He wasn’t wrong for being upset; my obfuscations looked bad. I knew this. What I didn’t know was how to explain… anything. Not without breaking down. I feared, once the cat was out of the bag, he’d never look at me or Xander the same way. I was scared of what my face would betray. I knew that he’d want assurances that my feelings for Xander were in the past; that all had been cleaned up and he was just seeing the sticky residue of our past. I would want to be able to give him that, with the utmost sincerity. The thing is, I knew that it wouldn’t be completely true…
