It's interesting to me to see that in HSBC we've just been introduced to the character that (imo) feels the most directly like a HS character's OC, right? Pink themed flower-named eldritch girl strikes me as being more "Rose" than the other omega kids are similar to their own parents
And that just makes me wonder if it ties into the greater metanarrative themes at play in Beyond Canon. Dirk's plans for deltritus (at least on paper) seemed to involve a return to the series' roots and also some idea that he and Rose would be sort of more "objective" authors to it
But Ly'lac and her vibes-centered friend both seem to me like the exact sort of characters that 13-year-old Rose and Dirk would find super cool exactly according to their interests and personalities then.
So maybe I'm reading too far into this but it feels to me like we're already seeing a subtle jab at Dirk's idea here that he's making the more "mature, meaty" story out of the two. This is still his and his ectofam's OCs and their wish fulfillment story. The hand of the author is every bit as visible already here as it was in Candy
Which, to be clear, is not a bad thing, but I feel like Dirk would think that it is. Like, HSBC so far feels like a conversation about fanfics and how to do them "right", and the obvious answer to that is "however you want to do them". Dirk so far strikes me as someone turning up his nose at a "cringe" fic, trying to counter by "fixing" it with his own idea of what it should be, and already he's kinda tipping his hand and proving the metanarrative right that we're all cringe so just be free about it
ask me about my conspiracy theory about the new hsbc update, the nymphs' egyptian influence, the journey of Ra through the underworld, and Rosebot being revived as Truly Ascended
can you imagine an Ultimate Rose for a moment. THINK of the potential!!
I tried 2 design her.... I love imagining ultimate rose
(Took design elements from godtier rose, grimdark rose, and rosebot)
She would be so fun!!!! I know the other ultimate selves don't really incorporate their other selves into their designs (Dirk just looks like a fucking weeb, rosebot and davebot are. Just robots) but I think it'd be fun if the designs incorporated the Biggest Selves. I tried to fit jasprose in there but uhh. Difficult. Also her symbol is dark because ooo horror terrors oooo grimdark (actually I colored it in the lineart I initially wasn't going to color this that's why)
Anyway love ultimate rose wish she was real she'd be such a fun antagonist
Has anyone ever designed an Ultimate Jade, Jane, or Troll?
Dirk, Dave, and Rose exist. I've seen Ultimate Jake, Roxy, and John (from this person https://www.reddit.com/r/homestuck/s/D4uDZOUfYC), and even an Aradia, who I guess is the one Troll I've seen. Seriously wondering if these are out there, especially the Jade, since I am writing a sort of fanfic involving that.
Edit:
My idea for her is, and I quote (link inserted haphazardly, it's a clean text insert link in the doc):
"Jade would transform in a flash of green light, emerging with her hair regrown longer than ever (plus the streaks of white (and dog tail) fanart occasionally depicts her with), her hood gone in exchange for a witch’s hat (https://www.tumblr.com/meraki-sunset/699653830534643712/happy-halloween-the-witchs), the underside/inside of her skirt, sleeves, and the hat turning green, and her Prospit moon symbol in white in place of her Space symbol; she would have become her Ultimate Self."
A collection in a pocket dimension.
my part for the @bloodlineszine Lalonde edition! all the roses. all of them.

A post-canon DirkJake fic centered around RoseMary. Thank you to @/borzoilover69 for the beta, @/choctalksalot for the title suggestion, and @/dungeonsngeese for the chapter titles. o7
