Ultrababyfat - Twist
1998
David Cross has become a household name in comedy. Whether you know him from his impeccable standup work, movie appearances, or as Tobias Fünke from Arrested Development, Cross has worked his way into the hearts and smiles of people worldwide.
What you may not have known is before he was a widely successful comedian and funny man. David Cross was at one point living in his car living from paycheck to paycheck. Cross didn’t catch his break until 1992 when he started writing for the short lived Ben Stiller Show.
Through his work with the show he met Bob Odenkirk, their relationship would prove to be mutually beneficial as their partnership would lead to many comedy outings. Cross and Odenkirk wrote and made a movie based on one of the recurring characters from their now cult classic show, Mr. Show. In 2002, Cross did some promotion for the film and made a stop at Metro to perform some standup comedy with the band Ultrababyfat opening. For those present, they got to witness the beginnings of a man’s career that had yet to take off. They say that great men come from humble beginnings, David Cross is no exception to that and his performance at the Metro was a testament to this.
