September 2018: Sisters Minarai Umenana and Maiko Umetae (Umeno Okiya) of Kamishichiken showing off their different kimono ensembles.
In Kamishichiken, Minarai wear a special Minarai hikizuri with shorter sleeves and a handara, which is half as long as a darari obi, for one week before they switch to the regular Maiko outfit.

September 7th, 2018: In a move that no one saw coming, the Umeno shikomi who just passed her maiko test has already been made a minarai! Her geimei is Umenana (梅なな), which complements their other minarai, Umehana (梅はな), perfectly! It’s unknown at this time whether or not they’ll have a joint misedashi, but it seems as though Umenana will debut after Umehana in October ^^ Images are courtesy of Yuko Umeno [1] [2]
