Every day, Mei is woken up by Mommy. Mommy brushes her hair and touches her shoulders and ears the ways that soothe her in the hours before the rest of the family is awake.
She has breakfast, she says goodbye to Satsuki and Daddy, and then she goes back to their room on the second floor.
She plays with her blocks and cars. She sings songs with Fumi and Mommy. Yonee makes lunch and snacks, then Grandma Terashima takes her out to the garden to water the flowers before she takes her nap.
Satsuki comes home first. She has to do her homework before she can play with Mei and help make dinner. Then Daddy comes home, puts his work on a desk, and plays rough with her and her sister, to be fussed over by Grandma Terashima.
After dinner and their bath, Mei gets in one of her favorite nightgowns, has Mommy brush her hair, and sleeps in Mommy’s bed with her.
Then Mommy went to the hospital.
Every day, Mei is woken up by Grandma Terashima. She doesn’t let Grandma touch her shoulders and ears at all. It’s not the same.
She has breakfast, she says goodbye to Satsuki and Daddy some days, other days, just Satsuki, and then she goes back to their room on the second floor.
She plays with her blocks and cars. She sings songs with just Fumi. Grandma Terashima never sang with her. Yonee makes lunch and snacks, then Grandma takes her out to the garden to water the flowers before she takes her nap. Sometimes, they’re not very good naps.
Satsuki comes home first. She hasn’t wanted to play with her much since Mommy went away. Then Daddy comes home on days he is at university, puts his work on a desk, and plays rough with her and her sister. Grandma Terashima has not fussed much about it since Mommy went away.
After dinner and their bath, Mei gets in one of her favorite nightgowns, fights as Fumi tries to brush her hair, and sleeps in Grandma Terashima’s bed with her, or on her own bed.
Then Daddy moved her and Satsuki away.
Every day, they wake up, she fights when Satsuki tried to brush her hair, then Satsuki makes breakfast and lunch before they do some chores. She wants to go home.
Mei only says goodbye to Satsuki now. Daddy works at home on most days. At least the yard is big enough for her to play. They aren’t her blocks or cars, but the sun feels good on warm days.
There still isn’t anyone but Daddy. She wants to go home.
Satsuki comes home, does her homework quickly and makes dinner. Then Daddy leads them in chores before they take their bath. She likes when the whole family is together like this. Almost the whole family.
Satsuki fights her again about her hair. Then she goes to sleep in her own bed.
She still wants things to go back to the way they were.
Days go by like these, then she grows into them.
Wake up, have Satsuki brush hair, do chores, eat breakfast.
Say goodbye, play, take a nap, play, see Satsuki.
Eat dinner, do chores, take bath, sleep.
It’s not the same as before, but it’s comfortable. It’s nice.
Hi, my name is Mia! I’m a 19 year old autistic girl whose passions are art, animation, and music. I’m currently working towards getting a degree in animation, and one day I hope to be able to create my own cartoons and songs!
Image is a picture of my wrist with three bracelets on it:
One with red beads that reads “Red Instead,”
One with silver beads that reads “Not A Puzzle Piece,”
And one with light purple beads that reads “Actually Autistic.”
(Bracelets were all bought from ruthdoodle on etsy, who also sells awesome stimmy stuff! Highly recommended. 😀 )
This is day 15 of the Autistic Creative Challenge. Today’s prompt was stim toys. I don’t really use traditional stim toys, except this fidget cube. In class I usually play with paper clips, which I really like.
