running into data versions of hanks and ted was nowhere near as life-threatening as the battles yuri's been forced into so far. still stressful, though. arguably more so; with enemies, you could always just pummel them away when they got annoying.
"old man..." yuri grumbled in warning, running his fingers through his long hair as he absently watched ted scramble around the area. the kid was barely managing to keep his mouth shut, as much of a handful as yuri remembered.
"don't 'old man' me," hanks shot back on instinct. they've gone through this exact sort of back-and-forth for years now, so the geezer didn't even bother acknowledging him with anything more than that. instead, his old eyes crinkled with a soft joviality directed at asuna, "now, i don't know what's going on exactly, but you seem like a nice young lady. i hope yuri over here hasn't been dragging you into much trouble. it wouldn't be the first time... or the second... or... you get the idea."
half-hearted protests in response to their antics aside, seeing his closest ties from the lower quarter again left a bittersweet taste in his mouth. living in the moment was sorta his thing, but knowing that the reunion would be fleeting -- and only a trick of the mist... at least it meant he wouldn't have to worry about hanks revealing all his embarrassing secrets, or ted constantly running circles around his friends. but ah well, maybe playing along wouldn't be so bad.
"says you. i've been on my best behavior," a defiant hand on his hip, the other clasping his ghost friend's shoulder, "right, asuna?"
