Hi everyone,
I really appreciate the reblogging I'm seeing about the petition. I am remaking a post so there's a bit more context.
Hey everyone, I am resharing this to give a bit more context and facts from a student standpoint. If you haven't signed the petition yet, please do so.
Please help us save our program at UofC.
Hello everyone,
Here are some facts for you:
• Admissions to Classics and Religion (CLARE) programs are currently paused.
• Admissions to Greek and Roman Studies in the History department are also currently paused.
• Faculty spent over one year developing a Medieval Studies program proposal.
• According to faculty involved in the proposal and limited administrative communication, there were earlier indications the proposal would be supported or formally considered.
• Students have not received formal communication explaining why the proposal is now not being considered.
• Students report learning about these developments primarily through conversations with faculty.
• Faculty involved in the proposal have indicated the proposed program would require fewer resources than some suspended programs.
• These developments affect student degree planning, course availability, and program continuity.
• Clear communication regarding admissions, program planning, and proposal review would support student academic planning.
