Updated post for my skeklings and urlings (including renaming SkekRo to SkekVas, so she won’t be confused with SkekRho )
SkekKa-Daughter of SkekOk and SkekLach, SkekKa doesn’t have the best sense of sight, and wears glasses to help her see small things like writing. She has a tendency to hoard the books she likes from SkekOk’s library, and keeping them in her room to read later. As she grows up, she slowly learns that she also loves writing as much as she loves reading, and begins to write her own stories, and uses them to teach young gelfling how to read and write. She becomes SkekKa the Author.
SkekTori-Son of SkekOk and SkekLach, SkekTori has a fascination for shiny things, and likes bringing them to SkekLach for their collection. As he grows up, he starts making trinkets and braclets for the other skeksis in the castle, and even starts selling his jewelry in Har’ar. He becomes SkekTori the Jeweler.
SkekVas-Daughter of SkekEkt and SkekSa, SkekVas was almost completely raised by SkekSa and the Sifa. She has a special fondness for seashells and other items she considers “beautiful.” When the Sifa visit the land, she’ll prowl the land for more beautiful things. As she grew up, she also learned that she can trade her things to others in exchange for payment, and other beautiful things. She eventually became a traveling saleswoman, sharing her goods with anyone she comes across, and helps gelflings get their goods sold to others. She becomes SkekVas the Trader.
UrYu-Daughter of UrSol and UrUtt, UrYu has been raised on music. She’s been trying to hear the song of Thra her whole life; and during this search, learned the songs of Thra’s creatures and cultures. She is said to have a voice so beautiful, it could even melt a skeksis’ heart. She becomes UrYu the Songkeeper
UrRa-Son of UrSen and UrMa, urRa spent most of his life away from Mystic Valley. He decides to travel around Thra as an adult, spreading the teachings from his upbringing to the gelfling, sometimes bumping into SkekKa during his travels. He also loves learning from the various cultures across the land, and sometimes comes home and shares what he’s learned with the other urRu. He becomes UrRa the Teacher.
I’ve got to ask but, could you maybe one day post a guide on how you draw Skeklings and UrLings? I love the way you draw them but always seem to find difficulty drawing themself. It would be a great help and I’d really appreciate it!
I usually start with a guide circle for the head.
Then, some simple beans for the body and limbs.
Add some fluff on the joints, cheeks and head as well as simple toes and a beak. Varying the length and shape gives the skeklings a more distinct look.
Then for a finishing touch, the eyes.
Same for the urlings:
Exept, instead of fluff, I add extra chonk. Keeping the face markings and head floof small makes for a more "baby" look.
Remeber to try these steps in your own style, and make any modifications you think might work!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
A self-indulgent AU TDC fic.
And second commission from @nrrdiarts, urSol giving his tiny grump a bath.
(UrVale’s an obliging baby but he also expected milk. Got liccs instead. Don’t like that.)
Hey guys, what do u think of my Urling designs?
Thank you so much you all!!
