I have been loving Starfleet Academy so far but oh my fucking god this show is testing me.

At the very least if they can't bring what is left of the USS Athena with them they could at least get all of the passengers of the ship.

Sure of course there is the problem of no one hearing the rescue calls from the USS Athena which then is fair. Either way I feel like the Federation would call for the USS Discovery to jump outside the barrier to see the damage. Or since Vance knows that the USS Athena is out of Federation space.

Also there is no way in HELL that Michael Burnham wouldn't drop everything to go save those kids. She wouldn't care if she knew them or not. She would go save those kids no matter what it takes.

I suspect this may be a controversial take, but the USS Discovery is the coolest Starfleet ship design. She's just so... Euclidean.

Like are you fucking kidding me?? That is an astrolabe with nacelles. This is probably the only time I would describe a ship as sexy.

I think about Saru frequently. Genuinely one of the most compelling, fascinating, and well-fleshed out characters Star Trek has ever produced (in my opinion).

Also, it’s Doug Jones, whom i’ve been a fan of since middle school when my obsession with Guillermo del Toro was birthed.

Jones’ performance is nothing short of captivating and he steals every scene he’s in on Discovery istg.

The makeup design and application alone to pull this character off is nothing short of incredible, and that’s something that makes Jones’ performance even more impressive due to the way the makeup inhibits facial movement, and the thick ass contacts.

Jones is a master of acting in extreme makeup, and it definitely shows in this role. Saru is EASILY one of three or four characters in Trek who co-own the place of “favorite” in my mind
