Utility app for writers

As part of my education in Interaction Design, our final task for this semester is to code a utility app. I got the idea to make one for writers, more specifically one to help with the technical part of writing (English only), as a tool next to your writing. So far the content I have planned consists of:

- Synonyms/antonyms - Grammar help - Translations (into English from your mother tongue only)

It’s a small app, and I have limited time, which is why I’m unable to make it a bilingual one. Not to mention the APIs I’ve found are in English only. If you have suggestions for other things this app could tackle, please leave a comment on this post, let me know on tumblr chat or write into a reblog, whichever you’re most comfortable with.

Hey guys! I wanna tell you about a cool (free) app!

It’s called Emergency Chat, and it’s available for both iOS and Android. It’s made by an autistic man and it’s to help when you go nonverbal!

When you start it up, there’s a splash screen with a message to whoever you’re trying to communicate with. Default has this message:

This message was created with autistic meltdowns in mind, but you can totally customize the message to suit your needs. It’s pretty neat, and definitely helpful.

People go nonverbal for all kinds of reasons and helping others around you help you through whatever you need is very important. This app helps you do that with ease!

For all those who use pomodoro technique

There's this EXCELLENT app called forest on playstore. Basically, everytime you plant a (cute) sapling and then leave your phone alone for 25 mins it grows into a tree and gets added to your virtual forest. So creating a forest is like a motivation to work. It has other pros such as : - if you leave the app (unless you get a call) the tree dies and so it helps with phone addiction. - it calculates your number of productive minutes and you can label each session to track your progress or if you need it for reference. - you can customise it to get your phone on silent mode whenever you plant a sapling. I haven't come across any reference to this app on this site, yet, so i decided to post one. However idk if its available for iphone but i highly recommend it to android users :)
