Spend Freeze FAIL (Thanks Memebox.)
Confession time, me beauties: I did not last my entire 60-day beauty spending freeze. I made it through the first month of 2017, but restricting myself for two months straight turned out to be damn near impossible, especially with Valentine's Day deals and sets and coupons all over the place. What can I say: I'm nothing if not a HUGE fan of instant gratification. The good news is that what I did blow on Kbeauty from my main dealer resource Memebox ended up being some truly good deals with excellent savings, so that's how I'm rationalizing it.
My spouse and I don't really do all that much for Valentine's Day. He sends me flowers at the office so I can show him off to my coworkers, and we usually go out for a nice dinner and drinks, but this year he was hundreds of miles away on a work contract, so in a fit of #TreatYoSelf skincare spending, I splurged on this Me to Me Box, one fantastically big box of skincare and treats. I already love the Bon Vivant Rose and Herbal sheet masks, so I was super down to try out some of these new brands and styles, all of them so very pink and pretty and splurge-worthy.
Value: $47 skincare, $10 extras
I don't know about you all, but nineteen masks, including a new gel modeling pack with goji berry by MD’s Pick, and some super-luxurious sheets with roses, pearls, strawberry and gold from favorite brands and some new ones I haven’t tried, plus a goofy little notebook that I'm sure I will find some kind of use for, and a couple of tasty chocolate treats, with more than 70% savings is how I like to spend my greeting-card company holidays.Â
I'm trying to formulate a couple of new routines to incorporate all these different masks and flavors, particularly the roses (duh) and the berries. I had been wondering if I should try to be more grown-up and minimalist in my overall skincare regimens, but you all have clearly seen how well that's been working out for me...
And then I had a Gold Member reward code to take 30% off one of Memebox’s great value sets, so I knew I had to get my mitts on all these deep sea water goodies from Nooni in the Ultimate Skin Reset Kit. I appreciate that this set includes tools as well as products–it feels like a very complete spa day that I can't wait to to start incorporating into my regular routine. I've had a few hormonal breakouts lately, so I'm ready for a reset like whoa.
I so far haven't been a big fan of powder cleansers in general, but I like that the Fruit Enzyme Exfoliating Cleanser is portioned out in the little packets and comes with a Marshmallow Whip Maker to get things all foamy and fluffy for cleansing. Plus now I have (yet) another toner to add to my stash, but I'm intrigued to see how the oil-based ingredients will work as part of a more clarifying routine. A mist and a ceramide moisturizer round out the basic routine, but the main thing is that I once again saved more than 50% on this particular set, thanks to Memebox’s generous discount codes and reward points, so hopefully that is enough rationalizing to warrant breaking my skincare and beauty spending fast, like the wretch I am.
Plus, I had to restock more of my beloved Pony Effect Sharping Brow Definer pencil along the way, so I always have a fresh one in a box as backup in my drawer, and these sets and steals gave me even more reasons to continue to treat myself in the most #sorrynotsorry kind of ways.
