Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds. 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped. 1 package active dry yeast. 1/2 cup warm water. 1/2 cup milk. 1 large egg. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened. Vegetable oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Mix the flour, sugar, salt, vanilla bean seeds, and lavender buds in a mixing bowl. Add warm water to a separate bowl and dissolve the yeast. Until frothy, let it sit for five minutes. To the dry ingredients, add the milk, egg, softened butter, and yeast mixture. Stir to form a dough. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until it's smooth. Cover and let it rise for one to two hours. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch, then cut into rounds or squares. In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C. Fry, turning once, until the beignets are golden brown. While still warm, drain on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy your Lavender Vanilla Bean French Beignets immediately after serving!
