‘Vanilleeis mit heißen Himbeeren’ is a dessert, vanilla ice cream and hot raspberries. I hadn’t thought about it a lot in the past years, we usually had other ice cream at home and when we happened to have vanilla ice cream, my mind normally first thought of making a banana milkshake rather than vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries. But I went home over break to my family, and my siblings told me about making it basically all the time. So two or three weeks ago, I decided to make some. I made a bigger batch - some for my sister, some for her friend that was staying over, some for my brother and, of course, some for me. When I put the raspberries in the pot, I started remembering an instance in which the mother of a former friend of mine prepared them for us. It was kind of strange, I don’t think about said friend a lot, we grew apart a long time ago. Her mum is part of my earliest memory, the birth of my sister, and I had thought about that for a bit when that strange mini-memory hit me. Nevertheless, I was happy about remembering that small thing. I had forgotten aboout spending a lot of time at my friend’s house, even having my first few sleepovers at her house when we were 5 or 6. So yeah, just a small story.
