The ocean liner Leviathan, ca. 1920s. She was originally the German flag passenger liner Vaterland but was seized as a troop transport from beginning April 1917. She remained in political limbo from 1919 until 1922, when she was modernized into the largest and fastest ship of the U.S. merchant marine.
