Today I made... White bean dip 😊 Nice and easy, just a can of white or cannelini beans, garlic, dill, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper
Made some pizza pinwheels for the little lady

罪なきからあげ // BLAMELESS KARAAGE A crunchy soy-based snack flavored like karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken). The seasoning is spot-on—actually, these taste exactly like the time I bought karaage that was more breading than chicken and heated it up in the oven. Maybe they should brand this as breading-only? It really made me crave chicken... and I ended up going to eat chicken later......
I couldn't fathom why, but there are SO many nights when I crave a peanut butter & jelly sandwich after I've eaten a full dinner. Not even because I'm still physically hungry but because I know it will taste awesome. However my rational brain tells me there's no reason I need that much bulk after a full meal so I've hacked my post-dinner pb&j to be a little lighter and even pack in some veggies! 🍓🥜 .. I spread my favorite @crazyrichardspb on some celery with some of my homemade mixed berry chia seed & stevia jam made with @truvia sweetener!
Snacks, part 2
Featuring four snacks this week, three of them are even vegan!
Let’s start out with the first one:
These are waffles with black sesame and peanuts, without dairy and eggs. The waffles are pretty dense, very crispy and super addicting. I love the black sesame ones, but the peanuts give the waffles a slight sweetnees, which I love as well. These are available at Seiyu and Don Quihote (or Mega Donki at least).
These are きりんとう, or kirintou, or karintou, crispy dough pieces that are vegan as well. They are available at Gyoumu in this packaging, but you can find them in any convenience store as well. The above pictured have peanuts in them, but there are also varieties with chocolate, kinako etc.
If you have read this blog for a while now, you might have stumbled upon the fact that I love weird food. When I saw these pickled garlic with plum flavour in the snacks section at Daiso, I had to buy these. My Japanese friends all refused to eat them, but the taste is not strong at all, very gentle and subtle garlic flavour accompanied with a nice sourness and a hint of plum. These are vegan as well.
Recently I found these German gummies in Can Do, a 100 Yen store, with a very nice food selection. These were 108 Yen (I think I saw some different gummy types from this brand at Donki for 300, 400 Yen before) and THEY ARE CHEAPER THAN IN GERMANY. Needless to say that they are very addicting and vegetarian-friendly (contains beeswax) equivalents to Haribo. Last time (in June 2019) I went to Can Do, there were two different types of Katjes available. I feel like I need to stock them...
One of my favorite snacks: cucumber slices with some lime
