Here's a collection of sites where you can get sound effects and ambience for your projects!
https://freesound.org/ Freesound is a great resource for royalty free and copyright free sounds. Each sound comes with a creative commons license, some of which require credit, so make sure to check those!
https://www.sounds-resource.com/ Sounds resource is an archive of sounds from various video games and PC games, so while they can't be used for anything commercial, you may be able to use them for things like videos or fan games.
https://www.humblebundle.com/software Humble bundle regularly hosts fundraiser bundles of software and game design assets, including sound effects and ambience. You can also put money from your purchase forward the bundles charity. Sadly, humble bundle also puts out bundles of AI books, though, so it's up to you if you think the good outweighs the bad here.
Unreal Marketplace If your project is an Unreal Engine 4/5 game, check out what the Unreal marketplace has to offer! They offer both free and paid sound effect packs for your games. Some you can download as wav files without Unreal Engine installed, as well!
https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/ Another nice resource of free and royalty free sound effects! Attribution is not required, but appreciated!
https://www.youtube.com/ Youtube can be a great place to find copyright free/royalty free sounds too! To get the sounds form the videos, you can use a tool such as mediahuman's youtube-to-mp3 converter.
https://www.gamedevmarket.net/category/audio/sound-fx A paid store where you can find all sorts of sounds and ambience for your video game projects! Humble bundle seems to do bundles with them pretty often so you may want to look into that to save some money here, too.
https://sonniss.com/gameaudiogdc An archive of free and copyright free sound effect packs from the Game Developers Conference! A new pack seems to be added every year, too. :)
https://getsoundly.com/ Soundly is a program more than website, but I have tried it myself and you can get free sound effects from it, and you can get additional sounds if you pay for the pro version as well.
https://www.boomlibrary.com/ While this sound effect site is primarily a paid one, you can get a free monthly bundle of sound effects if you subscribe to their mailing list!
https://blipsounds.com/community-library/ Another great library of free sounds from the Blip Studios community!
https://www.zapsplat.com/ They require you to make an account before downloading anything, but this is another site with lots of free sound effects for your projects!
Itch Io Itch Io is another great resource for both free and paid sound effects!
inspired by that other asker but, what did the script making process look like for your turbo video? ive always been curious how people organize and write out scripts for videos that long
Ok #bts is the official tag for answering these kinds of asks (REAL)
It was really super messy at first but I think it eventually came down to isolating all the topics i wanted to discuss into an outline with "chapters"
So unpacking all of those ideas and then organizing it in a way that made sense for the 'flow' of a YouTube video... which is purely trial and error bullshitting vibes . honestly
I think what probably makes the MOST sense for organizing is: Which topics do you need first to understand later arguments? Or which topics coming first would make later arguments more meaningful and interesting? Just hmmmm. Lots of shuffling around to find out. Also speaking out loud while writing script helps with making it sound 'natural.' Recording chunks and then listening over how it sounds is also a good way to find out 'is this going on for too long? is this rambling? is this a good flow? is this engaging?' ETC ETC ETCCC IDKK
As for the script itself its just. it ended up being paragraph after paragraph. Which i was only able to easily construct after Thinking about Everything a Lot. And scrolling tumblr discussions a lot. Lots of stuff was added in later as transitional sentences i realized would smooth things out, (sometimes added in during video editing- you can do it all simultaneously idgaf) or deleted parts entirely that I'd just highlight in gray. Everything is kinda formatted like a tumblr post the longer i look at it ermmm ALSO PUT IN PICTURES !!!! SO MANY PICTURES
These are the LEAST chaotic parts lol but the full thing is 152 pages so i did end up making a separate 'recording lines' document when it started lagging too much. But I'd later accumulate to the full script to 1 ultimate document for fun
Also final tip is to not delete anything you write- just move it somewhere out of the way if you wanna redo it (bottom of the document in a separate table is what i eventually did) because you never know when you're gonna revisit old ideas :D
extra bs ---- (the read more destroys the image format?? ok )
Synopsis / movie appreciation: Setup to broader discussion - Introduction and facts about the movie + alan tudyk stuff
Introduction to KC: Introduction to the in-universe character of King Candy using his first scene
Atmospheric / casual introduction to Turbo
Castle interrogation: First ACTUAL in-depth analyzed scene
Society of arcade: Worldbuilding, the 'in universe societal impact' of turbos actions. He's a very multi-dimensional character and I had to explore each of those dimensions separately i think...
etc etc i was just rambling with this part lol
Update on the dumb stupid hobby report YouTube. Video editing is dumb and stupid, and I should have watched a tutorial before doing this, but I'm here now.
To quote Charles Darwin, "But I am very poorly today & very stupid & I hate everybody & everything. One lives only to make blunders."
Hey quick question. Im trying to capture footage using OBS for something does anyone know how to record a game with audio, while not getting my background tabs recorded.
Thanks in advance
If you’re a content creator, please add closed captions to your videos. As a HOH person, I wanna be able to enjoy your content too. It’s something I myself have to work on personally, but I want everyone to enjoy my videos. Including those who are deaf and hard of hearing.
Let's talk about changes to the COPPA going into effect Jan 1st, 2020.
I have barely seen any information on this spread on tumblr, but since this is a big fucking deal for content creators, Ive decided to use my own voice.
The FTC is proposing changes to US Federal law that can and will impact content creators across the internet who post their content to ANY site which can be monetized-- and these regulations can and will be subject to fines UP TO 42,000$ and individual creators are not safe from these fines-- in fact the FTC has outright said that Individual creators of kid oriented content will be directly fined for violating these laws which are vague at best.
The FTC and COPPA as it stands may classify anything relating to cartoons, bright colors, video games that are popular with kids, toys, arts and crafts, and keywords as for kids at the discretion of the FTC regardless of whether or not the content within is suitable for children. YouTube is particularly impacted by this change, BUT ANY PLATFORM WHICH MAY HAVE TARGETED ADS FOR CHILDREN WILL BE IMPACTED. As the FTC words it--any website which contains forms of children's content may be monitored for this and subject to fines.
So what can you do?
- The FTC has an open forum for individuals to voice their opinions on the matter. Be respectful and considerate but let them know that as it is worded that these terms will not function to protect children and will only serve to harm content creators.
- Sign the petition on change org to help signal that you don't want these changes to go into place as is!
- Read up and watch up on the information on the FTC changes and learn how it impacts you and other content creators.
- SHARE THIS INFORMATION. This law WILL impact people both inside and outside the US whether we like it or not.
If you would like direct links to resources, I will be reglogging this post with some links to my resources and some helpful videos that lay it out!
