My Last Post on Anne Frank Discourse
Finding out Anne Frank edited those “bi-curious” passages out herself makes this discourse so much insidious especially with all the other circumstances surrounding her:
-A Jewish girl who died at the age of 15, not even an adult yet and only 14 when she wrote those passages
-never got the chance to decide her identity for herself, having a bunch of LGBT gentiles do it posthumously from a quote she edited out HERSELF
-homosexuality was still illegal after the Holocaust and well frowned upon she knew and her father, who didn’t know about the passage (but is now being called homophobic for an edit he didn’t make) that her message would have been taken incredibly wrong and she would have demonized instead of iconized.
-the reason her father published her journal was not so you LGBT gentiles could find an icon in a murdered girl curious about her sexuality, but to prevent this from happening to any other girl, and finally her memory would have a voiced attached to it.
She. Did. Not. Want. You. To. Know. This. Shit. About. Her.
And LGBT gentiles have been angry mainly at LGBT Jews when we say don’t claim her as a bi icon or queer, with claiming “but this a prime example of Queer/LGBT community being erased, I don’t know why you don’t understand that’s the issue?” No we get what you are trying to say, we got it loud and clear. But it’s wrong, and it’s clear Anne Frank had NO interest in you knowing this stuff, she was a 14 years old who never explicitly identified with the community and was merely curious, and she died in the Holocaust before she could. And she became the biggest voice of the Holocaust, and one of the only voices for Jewish woman.
But you need to make her consumable to you, you so desperately want to throw yourselves down on your feet and claim her a martyr for the LGBT community. You need to make a voice for Jews a voice for also the LGBT.
And I’m just going to say this right now if you called her father homophobic you are hundred without a DOUBT showing your privilege and are antisemitic, like thanks! Clearly showing you don’t understand your own LGBT history or respect Holocaust victims losing their entire families with only a diary to remember is 15 year old daughter.
And this discourse has gotten to the point where like I said LGBT Jews are villianized when callint her a bi icon is bad. First there are so many LGBT Jews who identified with the community, who had decided for the longest time they were part of the community, who were of age, who didn’t do everything in their power to hide passages alluding to their curiosity in sexuality but you need to cling Anne Frank because she’s the most known, like I said you need to make her consumable for you. When doing this first off you are admitting on some base level you cant sympathize with Anne Frank’s tragic life unless she’s “queer uwu” But also doing this you are saying the lgbt jews that have centered their identity in their lgbt and Jewish identity don’t matter to you because they aren’t as famous as Anne Frank. And we have discussed this and brought this up, and also the other enomorous issues I mentioned first of calling her a bi icon. You all have made us out to be attackers of the community many of you claiming our discomfort with this being apart of the long history of biphobia and queerphobia. You’ve tried to make us seem like disingenous outsiders who don’t care about LGBT issues by those who don’t understand the discourse.
This is my last post on this if this discourse continues like it has been for the last few days I’ll just continually reblog this post because I’m done. Anne Frank’s Death is not the time to pull out whatever queer feminist theory book you’ve been reading and start reciting it word from word, screamijg her father is homophobic.
LGBT gentiles, you guys suck.
Also please stop admitting that Anne Frank’s diary helped you find out your sexuality, it’s so incredibly weird and heartless. Nothing about that confession is needed, interesting, or welcomed.
