there’s something so beautiful about them incorporating both fiyero’s vinkun clothing designs as well as his ‘signature blue’ onto elphaba’s clothing in For Good as a sign of their growing connection & relationship. 🥺🫶🏻
Still not home to use my tablet so have more of @ichiwashername-o Fiyero and some headcanons I have about Vinkus fashion as well as Fiyero-specific headcanons
Bonus of Dorothy unknowingly picking a Vinkan dress when she gets her makeover in the Emerald City and Fiyero being lowkey 🥺🥺🥺 about it

for whatever purposes you need. im not sure what niche this is supposed target honestly
@wsys
The introduction of Feldspar makes me intrigued by the possibilities of Vinkus having some kind culturally specific relationship with sentient Horses. While I'm not a fan of how Maguire writes about them in the book,I do like the idea of them being a very different culture from the generic Ozian, and the presence of both Horses and horses would slot very interestingly into them being semi-nomadic steppe/desert people.
So I was rereading some of my previous Wicked posts, and I wanted to tell you about how I created an AU that ended in the Vinkus rebelling against the Wizard
So it started when I was reading Those Who Don’t Try, Never Look Foolish by @seraphimankh, and the gang gets to the Emerald City and Fiyero worries about being found out; so my brain went: so what if Fiyero HAD been found out in the Emerald City? How? There are many ways, the one I took was the scene in Those Who Don't Try where Boq finds out who the Scarecrow is and goes a bit crazy; so here instead of trying to kill Fiyero he turns him to the authorities. So we are not gonna go into what the Gale Force does to a Fiyero who is technically immortal and does not feel pain; so we're gonna jump to the part where he's about to get executed.
Madame Morrible is of course making a whole show of Scarecrow Fiyero's execution, making a big pyre to burn him; telling everyone about the traitorous Winkie Prince, Lover of the Wicked Witch of the West, how he infiltrated the Gale Force to destroy the Wizard in secret; however! He was found out and executed BUT, the Witch use her dark magic to revive him as an unnatural creature of cloth and straw; gotta admit the idea that the Wicked Witch can revive her allies as monsters is an intimidating idea. Also she makes sure to cover the Emerald City of images of Fiyero as a human, as a subtle form of mockery
Anyway, making an spectacle of things has the positive effect that Elphaba can hear about it, so she can show up at the last possible and save him from the flames diving in in her broom, it's very dramatic.
Should mention, Dorothy is there crying because she knows this is not right, the Lion scared and confused; and Boq is with Morrible on his ear fueling his darkest impulses, it's not pretty
So anyway, back to Elphaba and Fiyero; she saves him and they fly off to Kiamo Ko, and she feels so guilty of turning him into a scarecrow and almost having him killed, again, and he insisting it's not her fault, you know the works; so what now? Well, Fiyero was thinking about faking Elphaba's death and fleeing Oz, they can still do that; and we're putting them on pause because I gotta address Fiyero's family
So how is Fiyero's family taking all of, well this? Better that you'd expect it actually. So I had the idea that since Oz is supposed to be matrilineal the person in charge is Fiyero's mother, the Queen of Vinkus, and Fiyero is the eldest child but he has a lot of sisters so he's technically not in the running for the crown. They first get the news that Fiyero is dead, because he was enchanted by the Wicked Witch, then they get the news that he is not dead and a traitor also a scarecrow, and he's gonna get executed for treason, AND THEN that he's escaped with the Witch; so what does the Queen think of the Witch? I like to think that Fiyero's friendship with Feldspar in the movie is a sign that the Vinkus is more accepting of Animals and less interested in the Wizard's politics and as such she's not all that concerned with the Wicked Witch and chooses to remain neutral (although she does dislike the fact that many people act as if the Witch rules the West)
When the Queen gets the news of what happens in the Emerald City she officially announces that her family laments the situation of their wayward son; in private she tells her eldest daughter "Fiyero and his witch will probably go to Kiamo Ko, no one goes there" and gives a Bird a message to take to Fiyero; the message is basically "I'm on my way, we need to talk". By the way, when the Bird gets to Fiyero is like "Oh my Oz, it's worse in person" "Thank you Saviar". Anyway, when the Queen, let's call her Baxiana like the book, gets to Kiamo Ko she is greeted by the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, who looks like a pretty ordinary girl aside from her coloring, it's almost disappointing, and asks her where Fiyero is hiding "why do you think he's hiding?" "I know my son, and his vanity" and she's like "Fiyero, I know what happened, let me look at you" so Fiyero comes out of his hiding spot, and he's a scarecrow alright; Baxiana puts a hand on her son's new face and looks at him sadly for a moment, before going "tell me what happened, what actually happened" and he does
So back to Now What. In addition to Baxiana we have her eldest daughter Anzaria (and second child), and the third daughter Eliana (Eliana by the way, is poking Fiyero and pulling at his straw, in another setting she'd be a mad scientists); and they support Fiyero's plan of faking his and Elphaba's death and leaving the country, how are they gonna die? Water and Fire, someone is gonna throw water at Elphaba and she'll pretend to melt and Eliana made a Fiyero dummy out of straw and some old clothes and they're gonna burn it in his place; I'm sorry, I really like this part, where Eliana presents the Fake Fiyero and he's very unimpressed "are you serious?" "No one's gonna be able to tell the difference" "do you really think Ozians are that stupid?" "They think your lover will melt with water", I really wanna keep that dummy around, and more than once person will confuse it with the actual Fiyero.
Anyway, back to the story; while the Westward Gang is plotting the death faking, Fiyero is concerned about Dorothy, and about Lion, and about the Animals, and about everything; and a sentiment starts to form among those involved in the plot (which aren't just the royal family, they have aides and friends), "is this really necessary?" and "why are we folding to the Wizard?" and "he's just gonna keep coming after us and the Animals", and there's the fact that the Gale Force and the Wizard tortured and were about to kill Fiyero twice; and anyway this is how we end up in a Vinkun rebellion
Now Glinda. Glinda was not having a good time, but when the West rebels, in the name of the two people she loves the most, she finally finds her courage and turns on the Wizard; she makes a proclamation around all of the Emerald City, and parts of Oz that the Wizard is fraud, and she has followed him out of fear, but no more, she's leaving him and joining the Vinkus and the Animals in standing up to the Fraudster's lies. This is a turning point, because Glinda's popularity gave her a lot of credibility, and causes a lot of people who were unsure to turn against the Wizard; she basically takes all of Gillikin with her
Next is Boq, remember Boq? Remember how he has Madame Morrible whispering in his ear? Yeah. So Morrible is pushing all of Boq's buttons turning him more and more radical, and since Munchkinland was more anti-Witch due to Nessarose's repressive policies and Boq is on their side they make him the new Governor and use him to make Munchkinland something of a base, pushing and pushing more anti Witch and anti Vinkus propaganda. Munchkinland will be the biggest issue for the rebellion
But what about Dorothy and Lion? Officially they're "guests" of the Wizard, kept in the palace for "their own protection"; in reality they're hostages, and they both know it. The Rebellion wants to take the Emerald City to end the war, but also to rescue them. Also in the meantime Elphaba has a theory of how to send Dorothy home using Nessa's shoes (now that she has her 2 loves with her, allies, and the Rebellion is underway, she no longer cares about the shoes)
What else? Elphaba, Fiyero and Glinda want to save Boq, because they know Morrible is getting into his head, she's good at that. And of course, the Thropple, we love the Thropple; they don't know they're a throuple yet, but Fiyero's sisters are determined to be The Worst, the fact that they insist it's not like that makes them worse, like when the three are reunited they're like "we want to talk, in private" and Dysterya the second daughter is like "of course, 'talk' *wink wink* I'll leave you to your 'talk'" "It's not like that!" "Sure it isn't, by the way, Ms Elphaba, good job *wink*" Elphaba wants the couch to swallow her; and the next day the three are found sleeping on the same bed (well, Fiyero doesn't sleep, but he's with the girls) and everyone, specially the Queen, are disappointed the witches are fully dressed (btw there's also the scene of Fiyero being like "Anzaria I'm a scarecrow, what am I supposed to do?" "Use your imagination!")
I think that's all I got; Rebellion! Woo!
Edit: Totally forgot that Glinda gets a hat like Elphaba's because she and Fiyero have matching hats and Glinda was feeling left out
I love how suede leggings and a white cotton shirt is considered “strange ceremonial garb” like Boq is a munchkin. Has he not seen what his own people wear book universe and movie universe???
Also fun fact: boq is based on a character from the original oz books named Boq the rich munchkin. He let Dorothy stay with her before her journey. I believe he’s this one.
Fiyero takes Elphaba to meet her whole family in the Vinkus. He has a baby brother or nephew that falls in love with Elphaba and then she gets softie because of him!
