Blep
Remember how I said that Alatreon skeleton was the hardest one among my Monster Hunter skeletals? Forget that. The only challenge there was pectoral girdle and skull. Here it was skull, limbs, tail and the rest of the body! So I present you my most complex MH skeletal reconstruction to date, Bewitching dancer himself - Mizutsune. My favorite 4th gen flagship (with Violet being my favorite non-ED fight). Creation process might seem simple given that we have Lagi for reference but: 1) Lagi is just an archosaur with tail and lack of gastralia being the only real differences from pseudosuchians; 2) Mizutsune being chimera of three different clades (mammals, archosaurs and snakes (vipers in particular)). That said skull was a particular challenge since movable fangs were definitely a reference to viper fangs. But due to archosaur skull mixed with fox skull not mixing well with snake skull I decided to went the same approach Magnamalo likely functions - water dee-like fangs that are loosely rooted in skull. Limbs were also a challenge since crocodile anatomy would result in impossibly thick toe bones due to more robust build of this variant, I decided to go fox route making paw pads thick instead. Tail is an educated guess based on width at the cut area. And dear Gog it has vertebrae for days (based on Lagi and how much more flexible Mizu is I didn’t want to go mamma route where number of vertebrae is fixed and is compensated by their length). As for description I still try to imitate MH ecology books from decade ago. And hopefully my attempts at MH skeletals are remotely close to replicate this feeling (HD version is here)
New merch!! These will debut at GCX soon, and anything left over will be available on my Ko-fi afterwards!
