I watched the new DMC show, I would love to hear your take on Dante, Lady and Virgil in a relationship for the first time?
I watched it too, I fully expected Dante and Virgil to be hot but I gotta say Lady took me by surprise, I love her so much.

A/N: I hope to Sparda that there's a season 2 because I need to see more Virgil for sure, and definitely more Danlady shipping fuel.
DANTE
Flirts very shamessly and constantly once you get into a relationship with him. Will absolutely use any chance to show off in front of you, gotta get all those looks from you, looks that sent a shiver down his spine. On slower days he enjoys playing video games with you or cuddling on the couch and doing nothing, enjoying some peace and quiet. Has had quick and fleeting relationships before but never a long-term one so sometimes he gets nervous about it. But he doesn't want you to notice so he covers it up by flirting even harder.
LADY
Will try to hide your relationship at first, especially at work. There are many ways it could backfire and get you both in trouble, or become a weakness for others to exploit. But what's even more of a reason is that she wants to have you and your attention all to herself for as long as possible. Banter gets more flirty when you're on demon hunting missions and it's just the two of you. She wakes up earlier so the two of you can have some alone time to kiss and flirt while you get ready for work and only then be more professional.
VIRGIL
Is cold to you even when you start dating. Just because you're his beloved now doesn't mean he will treat you like he has to baby you. Protect yes, but he still expects you to pull your weight with everything you do together. He is very punctual and always remembers any important date, which does actually make you feel special, there aren't many people he would bother to remember in the first place. Not good with flirting or teasing and blushes easily when you're lovey-dovey with him.
(( When I say, there needs to be a break in the angst train some times. Get ready for some cute shit.

It had been three hours, Patton had been trying to get Virgil out of bed for class for three hours. It wasn't like Patton was trying to be mean Virgil wanted to get up earlier to study for an exam. Poor kiddo must be exhausted.
Attempt number 36 and counting Virgil finally had his eyes open. Patton looked at him with a gentle smile. " Hey storm cloud I'm gonna get you some coffee stay awake."
Patton whispered before jogging to the kitchen,Logan had made a pot a half an hour ago to wake up himself. Hopefully it was still hot.
Virgil looked around his room, vision blurry, it was way to bright for his liking. He dragged his pillow over his head. He didn't need to study anymore, not when it was this warm and comfortable.
Certainly not when he'd only fallen asleep three hours ago. Virgil relaxed into his cover abit, Then he felt the warm of hot ceramic in his hand. " Hey kiddo, come on now, it's time to wake up. The sky is awake and you should be too." Patton reminded, there was a very faint firmness to his muffled voice.
Virgil felt the pillow be tugged away and he pulled the coffee to his face. Man it felt cozy. He blinked once trying to get everything in focus. It wasn't happening.
Patton smiled as Virgil blinked taking it as a good sign. " Good job Starlight, I'll give you a few minutes to wake up. First cup rule and all. "
Virgil groaned, he didn't want to get up. And he didn't want to spill the coffee. If he didn't move his face it would be okay. He'll get up in a minute and drink his coffee and start his day like he swore to do.
That was the plan, all he had to do was get up. Get Up. Move his body out of the warmth and comfort of his bed into the harsh reality of his coming day.
The added warmth of the cup meant nothing it was there to warm him up once he sat up. Once he sat up.
Which he never did.
10 minutes later he was jarred from his sleep by a shrill, " Virgil!" The anxious man flew up in a haze. What happened? Who died?
" I'm up! I'm up! Is everything okay? " Virge asked wondering why the side of his head was soaked. Had he drooled? Man that must have been a good sleep.
" Where is your coffee?"
" What coffee?" There was some glancing around. Before seeing it, the coffee cup wedged between the wall and the pillow where his head had been. With a sigh he picked up the cup.
" ...I thought I had finally gotten you up.." The father hung his head pinching the bridge of his nose beneath his glasses.
"Its cool, one minute, more?" Virge said drowsily as he climbed out of bed. Offering the cup to his friend who laughed softly before going to bring a fresh cup.
Virgil started cleaning the small spill up wondering, how long did he cuddle the cup?
Look- okay I know how this looks and I know that it’s one am-ish but sometimes people want to lose themselves in imagining a fluffball of a man giving his children cookies when they had a bad day okay? I do not kin Patton, I simply admire from a distance. Okay? Do you understand why this is occuring? Good, now enjoy the one of, if not, the fluffiest thing I have ever wrote.
Logan- Another day of being ignored until the last second when finally they realized he was in the room. It usually didn’t wear down on him too much but today was different. He admittedly made efforts, even raised his hand but to no avail. At least it was over and he could relax into his room’s bed as Thomas has was in his room in the real world. He vaguely heard a knock on the door but didn’t care to answer. He needed a nap, or maybe coffee.
He woke up 30 minutes later to his alarm to remind him that he did have to update his planner to account for the recent shift in schedule due to today’s meeting outcome. He was about to reach over and silence his alarm when his hand fell on a plate. He glanced over to what appeared to be a dark blue plate with a circuit board patterning and a warm cookie with Crofters Jam filling. he was confused until he noticed the hand-written note in light blue marker. The letter described how, presumably Patton, was grateful that Logan was trying his best and that even though he may not always be heard he’s cared for. A small creeped on to Logan’s face as he put down the note and bit into the warm cookie apparently made with love.
“Thank you, Patton.”
Roman- Of course, bring removed form the coveted status of hero certainly bruised more than just his pride. At the moment he was at his desk still vigorously writing out his ideas for new TikTok sketches when his eyelids began to feel heavier than his sword and shield after a long battle. He knew he had to earn back his worth but perhaps his beautifully crafted four-poster bed with silk sheets and the fluffiest pillows he could imagine would be a nice change of sitting arrangement. He changed into his comfiest pajamas and slipped under the covers as he vaguely heard a knock at the door but sleep had already claimed him.
He growled as he was suddenly awake by his sing bird alarm clock and took note of the wonderfully delicious smell coming from his nightstand. What was that smell exactly? Was it white chocolate and red velvet? He gazed around his room to find a plate with his crest circling the edge and a warm cookie that looked as good as it smelled with a hand-written note. Roman lifted the plate gently to read the note from his favorite padre. It talked about how he was perfect no matter what and that even he wasn't hero he certainly Patton’s. The note almost brought a tear to his eye as he took a bite of the soft yet form cookie and let the chocolate melt in his mouth.
“Thanks, Padre.”
Virgil- It was not a god day for Virgil. Not only did that lying snake weasel his way into Thomas’s acceptance but also he had the nerve to reveal his name. Not only that but now that Thomas is having an internal war, Virgil has mountains of work, what feels like daily anxiety attacks, and he has to see that scaley horror every day. He would rather figure how to permanently kill a side then deal this much. Today was even worse though because apparently he’s the villain for having eyes and seeing a snake as a liar. Whatever, he just needed a depression nap and his playlist. He almost heard a knock at the door as he let himself drift into world where he could shoe those two sad excuses for sides what he really thought.
He had no idea what time it was but it was probably late. He woke up as his playlist was on Black Parade and sniffed something sweet in the air. He didn't remember anyone warning him about Patton baking so he began to panic until he saw a plate sitting barely in view behind the Nightmare Before Christmas pillows and Jack the Skeleton plush. He pushed himself over tot the other side of the bed to see what someone had put there. It was a plate with storm clouds all over it and a Panic! at the Disco logo obscured in the center by a dark purple cookie with black sprinkles on it. Underneath was hand-written letter which Virgil carefully pulled out to read. It talked about how Patton understood that right there was a lot going on but that he could always reach out. It detailed that it was okay to not be okay and that it wasn't a burden to help him. Virgil smiled as he grabbed the cookie and bit into it’s soft sweetness.
“Thanks Dad.”
Janus- Today was probably one of the worst days he’d ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Rivalries were normal and that’s fine but it’s not fine to go that far below the belt. Janus was angry pacing his room trying to talk himself out of murder and failing miserably. It was just too much at the moment. Knives were always pointed vaguely in his direction not right at his throat. It always seemed like physical appearance was the problem here even though they know shapeshifting is an option but it’s also not an option- what do they want out of him?! Eventually he landed on the idea that he may as well just sleep it off and sharpen a knife when he woke up. He crept into bed after changing into something comfy and warm, turned on his heat lamp and descended into sleep as he almost heard a knock.
He woke up to an unfamiliar sweetness filling the air of his room. It was sugary sweet and rather enticing but for all he knew Remus could’ve gotten bored again and done something dangerous. This time, to his surprise, there was a plate on his nightstand. His glanced over at the scaley pattern along the plate that only stopped at the sunflower in the center. There was a yellow cookie with dark chocolate chips layed intricately on the baked good. He noted a small written letter under it and decided it would be rude not to read the note first. It talked about how the sides were still warming up him and that eventually everything would be normal. The letter also noted that it was brave of him to let down a wall for them and that it is okay to be vulnerable. Janus let a real smile cross his face as he began to enjoy the sugary treasure.
“My thanks, Patton.”
Remus ( yes really ) - It took quite a lot to throw Remus into a full on frustrated rage. Somehow, today managed to do that. He understood he wasn’t the most likeable aise among the seven six of them. Even so, did they really have to pull the evil twin card and the unstable card? It was like playing strip poker in the middle of a blizzard, it’s not fair! He was trying his best just like any other side so why do you appreciate precious little Roman and leave Remus’s corpse for the dogs to eat? In fairness the biting would be kinda nice but that’s besides the point. Maybe a nice long murder fantasy would get him back to something more tolerable. He changed into a crop top and booty short and threw himself in the general direction of the bed before passing out.
He woke up and immediately fell off the bed which he was barely even on in the first place. What a great way to resume his 24 hours. As he picked himself up he smelled something sweet but also a little bleachy. He looked around before his eyes landed on a plate covered in tentacles with his logo in the center. He sniffed it before noticing the note. He picked it up almost spilling the plate and read the written note. It said all these things about how even though he was a little strange he was still loved. He was still creativity just a different kind and that should be respected. He gave a toothy smile as the note informed his that this dark green cookie was made with expired ingredients, mildly burned, and had bleach for flavor. He nommed on the cookie with delight as the disgusting taste filled mouth.
Additional: Patton knew his kiddos pretty well and he knew that today was one of the not-so-good days. He always liked to calm down with a cookie so he may as well treat the others! It took an hour or maybe two to bake all the different cookies and write all the notes. It was certainly nice to see his kiddoes sleep peacefully on or half-on the bed. Knew they would, now he made them all he needed was for them to be happy. He certainly didn’t expect letters back. A small white envelope with Logan written dark blue, a parchment esk envelope with a red wax seal and Roman written in red ink, a mangy ink splattered letter with Virgil written in Tim Burton font, a yellowed envelope with Janus in careful yellow cursive, and a torn and bitten letter with Remus made out of letters from articles and newspapers. Each one talked about how kind the gesture was and how much they each appreciated it, with some more sappy than others. His favorite thing though was they all ended by saying thank you in their own way. It was all a dad could ask for.
How about- a fantasy au where Roman is a witch, Deceit is a ghost, and Virgil is Roman's cat- and the three of them get into a bunch of cute and fun shenanigans, and every once in a while have to deal with Roman's brother, Remus, who is a witch who enjoys wrecking havoc when he can-
This is chapter 10 of Queer 'n Crazy, which I'm sure you knew, 'cause you can read... Me being an idiot aside-
I have fallen into the tartarus that is the BNHA fandom, and I am dying because Deku and Tamaki are my babies, and HNNNNNNG-
Anyway, I hope you're doing alright in these troubling times, make sure to stay connected with nature (humans tend to go mad if they don't see something green) and be sure to eat and drink properly. Self care is important! Even if self care means crying under the covers at night.
My point is, make sure you take care of yourselves. :) The summary is at the bottom of the chapter, though I doubt anyone will need it, this chapter's more of a filler. Sorry if it's cringy, by the way, I'm not very good at writing pining! I've only ever written established relationships before, if anyone has any tips please help me out!

"Virgil... What are you doing?"
Virgil grunted. As much as he loved Logan, he wasn't getting a straight answer this time. Logan sighed, bookmarking his page neatly and setting his book down. He turned around in his desk chair to face Virgil, who was currently face-planting onto his desk, his arms wrapped around his head like walls. Logan watched him disapprovingly.
"Virgil."
No answer.
"Virgil." Logan reached across the gap between their desks to give Virgil's shoulder a little push. The cat-like boy frowned, letting out a lethargic hum. Logan decided the best course of action was physical contact. He stood behind his roommate with his arms crossed, watching as Virgil buried his head deeper into the space between his arms.
"Virgil." Nothing. Logan nudged (read kicked) his roommate's ankle. "Virgil!"
"Stop!"said Virgil, popping the p. He then raised his head, resting it on one of his arms to glare at Logan, who moved into his field of vision. To his surprise, a small smile was resting on his roommate's face.
"What is it, pocket protector?"
"Nothing." Logan hummed. "It's just that I don't see how that's a productive way to study."
"Well it's working."
"Is it now." Virgli nodded mock-seriously.
"Mhm. I'm studying the depths of my brain."
"And what have you gathered?" asked Logan, falling back into his chair. Virgil scrunched up his nose, watching as the male adjusted his glasses.
"That I am more of a disappointment than I thought I was." Logan sighed, rubbing his forehead.
"How many times must I say this, Virgil-"
"Yes?"
"You are not a disappointment." Virgil rolled his eyes.
"Yeah right. I bet you're sick of me already." he mumbled, leaning back in his chair.
"Falsehood. I don't think I'll ever get tired of you, actually." Virgil turned away. A spark of hope ignited in his chest, but he forced it down. He'd heard that one too many times.
"Virgil-"
"Anyway, I can't concentrate." said Virgil, cricking his neck. "By this point there isn't any merit in trying to, either." He could practically feel Logan's gaze on his back, but thankfully he let the topic go.
"Well if we go by your thinking, there's no point in sitting around doing nothing either." Logan shut his laptop and stood up, brushing down his sleeves. Virgil looked around at him with an eyebrow raised. "Do you have anything else to do?" Virgil shook his head.
"Then how about we do something together. Only if you want to, of course." Virgil couldn't help the smile that found itself on his face.
"Yeah, that would be cool." he said, avoiding Logan's gaze. Logan smiled, before walking over to the cupboards.
"What time is it?" Virgil glanced at the clock by Logan's bedside.
"7:30."
"Perfect." He turned around to face Virgil. "How would you feel about watching a movie? You do it all the time at night anyway, might as well start early." Virgil's lips curved upward.
"That would be nice. Any suggestions?" he asked, reaching for his laptop.
Logan hummed, rummaging through one of his shelves, before turning to Virgil holding a mound of blankets. Virgil snorted at the sight.
"Not really... I'm not much of a movie person." Virgil's eyes widened.
"We don't have to do something if you don't want to, you know-" Logan rolled his eyes.
"Virgil, believe me when I say I know the basic codes of ethics." Logan then proceeded to dump all of the blankets on the foot of Virgil's bed. "Just because I am a movie person, does not mean I don't enjoy them."
Virgil blushed, diverting his eyes to his computer screen. "Right." Logan watched his roommate fondly, before sitting down behind him.
Virgil's body tensed up as he felt Logan's breath fan across his neck, and he felt heat rise up his neck. With trembling fingers he typed in his password.
Denied.
Virgil licked his lips, trying again. This time it worked. Logan smirked.
"Messy typer, are you?"
"Not usually." It's just that you're so fucking close, pretty-boy-
Virgil logged onto netflix and started scrolling through the movies. After a few moments, he turned to face Logan.
"So what do you want to-" Virgil's words died in the back of his throat because holy shit he's close.
Logan's face was mere inches away from his own, which Virgil should have expected, honestly. He could feel heart rate sped up and his eyes widened, staring into deep blue ones. Were Logan's eyes always that pretty? Virgil couldn't tell. A blush mimicking Virgil's started to form on Logan's face, and he drew away (Virgil found himself missing the warmth already), and he started to ramble.
"S-Sorry, I know you're big on personal space, I really shouldn't have-" Virgil sat in place frozen, watching as the usually put-together teen fiddled with his tie, looking anywhere but Virgil's face.
Virgil could feel what people would describe as butterflies -although they felt more like an angry moths- swarm around his stomach, his mind racing. Sure Logan's eyes were pretty, but there's no way they were that gorgeous the last time Virgil looked at him. Virgil could feel his throat close up, although this time it was in a way that made Virgil want to smile madly. His entire body was buzzing, even though they hadn't even touched each other.
He was snapped out of his trance by the voice of his favourite nerd.
"-I'm so so so so so so so so so sorry, I know that's really stupid, but-" Virgil looked at him strangely.
"Lo."
"-I swear it won't happen again I just-"
"Lo!" Logan started, looking at Virgil with what might have been the cutest blush ever. The two stared at each other for a few moments before Virgil broke the silence.
"It's fine."
"Are you sure? I mean-"
"Lo!" Logan clamped his mouth shut, his ears glowing.
"It's all good." Virgil really felt like grinning, why did he feel like grinning? He hadn't been grinning a few seconds ago... he shouldn't grin, maybe just smile. Logan wouldn't feel weirded out if he smiled, right?
"It's nothing, really. Chill." he chuckled breathily, before turning back to his laptop. Virgil had to bite his lip to stop himself from grinning. That weird feeling from yesterday's back again... Never mind, he was grinning. Logan, who was still blushing, leaned closer to Virgil and peered over his shoulder.
"So... movies."
"Movies." Virgil mimicked, his blush finally retreating. He turned around so that Logan was next to him instead of behind him. "What stuff do you like?" Logan shrugged.
"I don't know, I'm more of a reader."
"What books?"
"Um... Pretty much anything, actually." Virgil mock groaned.
"That doesn't help, Lo."
"Um, Stephen King? They made a few movies out of his books, didn't they?" Virgil looked at him incredulously.
"Did they??? Dude, have you never watched It?" Logan furrowed his brow.
"I mean, I've heard of it, aparently it was a turned out to be a hit-"
"Logan, it's like the horror movie."
"The book was more of a thriller-"
"Thriller, horror, whatever. The point is it's like the horror movie for beginners."
"We don't have to watch it if you've already-"
"Logan. We're watching it."
Logan smiled hesitantly as the emo lept off his bed, starting to gather various throws and blankets, adding to the pile Logan had placed on his bed. Once he was done it was clear that they had a considerable collection of blankets.
A slightly ruffled Virgil stood at the foot of his bed, looking at Logan.
"So, pillow fort?" Logan nodded.
"Pillow fort."
About 10 minutes later they were finished. The two had pushed their beds closer to the center of the room and strung blankets across the gap in between, their desks providing sufficiant support for the "roof" of the fort. The floor was laden with cusions and pillows, which were then covered in yet more blankets, these ones the school issue ones they'd been given. Virgil was just adding the finishing touches when the door opened, revealing Logan, who'd been scouring the building for snacks.
"How'd you do?" asked Virgil, pinning his fairy lights in place.
"There's a vending machiene in the lobby, Virgil. So I think I did alright." He smirked, dropping an array of gummies and chocolate across the floor. Virgil snorted, returning to his task.
"You really do have a sweet tooth."
"I don't lie if I can help it." shrugged the teen, adjusting his glasses. He then sat down next to Virgil, crossing his lanky legs. He watched the emo with a strange glint in his eyes. Virgil sat back, satisfied with his work, and raised an eyebrow at Logan's expression.
"What?" He said with a defensive edge to his voice. Logan smiled.
"Fairy lights?"
"You got a problem with them." Virgil muttered, turning away.
"Not at all." he replied. "I just didn't peg you as the type."
"Loving fairy lights is universal."
The two of them fit quite comfortably in their bundle of blankets, shoulder-to-shoulder and knee-to-knee. While Virgil was trying his best to ignore the butterflies in his stomach, his skin burned wherever it touched Logan's, and an insufferable blush had found his way onto his face yet again.
"So... Should I be scared?" Virgil looked at Logan, who was munching on a chocolate kiss.
"What?"
"Should I be scared." Logan repeated, turned to face Virgil. "You said that it's a horror movie...?"
"Oh, like that! Nah. It's famous because it was the first movie of it's kind, I think. It's not actually that scary."
"Alright."
Logan turned back to face the screen, his muscles relaxing as the beginning credits began. Virgil turned to the screen too, although he wasn't paying much attention to it.
A strange feeling had come over Virgil, it was dizzying and grounding at the same time. An odd warmth that started from his chest and expanded like a balloon to strain against his skin. Virgil's lips were curved in an unconcious smile, his body relaxing against his roommates. The fact he was so calm around Logan was confusing, but it felt so nice that Virgil didn't want to question it.
Regardless of the fact he was facing the screen, all of Virgil's attention was fixed on the figure in his peripheral vision. Logan was slumped against the cusions behind them wearing a sleep-shirt, his eyes fized on the screen. If Virgil looked past the glare on his glasses, he could see those captivating eyes, twinkling with interest. There was a small smear of chocolate next to Logan's lip, and Virgil swore there was no combination of words that could explain his overwhelming urge to kiss it off.
Wait, what the-
..........
Summary: Virgil can't focus on anything, and so Logan suggest watching a movie together. They build a pillow fort, and my probably awkward attempt at fluff ensues.

Roman always considered himself to be an expert when it came to romance and relationships. He would scoff at Logans comments about love just being chemicals and roll his eyes at Pattons squeals of it being adorable and cute.
He never seemed to hear Virgils opinion on love though, the anxious trait was rather silent during those conversations. That had intrigued him slightly and one day he knocked on his door to ask him what his take on love was.
Virgil raised an eyebrow when he saw Roman and shut the door in his face with a muttered "I've not had enough sleep for this shit."
"Virgil! Language!" Roman exclaimed then had an idea. "If you don't let me in I'll tell Patton you swore."
The door was ripped open and Virgil looked at him with narrowed eyes. "First of all don't you dare. Second since when did you resort to blackmail? Aren't you supposed to be all about honour and all that crap?"
Roman smirked "Blackmail sometimes yields better results. Can I come in now?"
Virgil groaned and stepped back to let him in. "What did you want at this ungodly early hour?"
Roman frowned at that. "It's almost midday."
"exactly." Virgil replied flopping down onto his bed with a small sigh. "Now tell me why you're bothering me quickly so I can hurry up and get back to doing something way more useful with my time. Like sleeping."
Roman gasped, mildly offended by Virgils comment but decided to ask what he'd originally come to ask. "What is your opinion on love and relationships?"
Virgils eyes widened and he was looking at Roman like he couldn't believe he'd just asked that. "Where the hell did that come from?"
"Well, I know how the others feel about it but I realised you never offered an opinion on it." Roman explained.
"oh, um, OK." Virgil said, mentally berating himself for jumping to the wrong conclusion about why Roman wanted to know.
There was an awkward pause as Roman waited for Virgil to elaborate but Virgil remained silent.
"Hey, Freak Out Boy, are you going to tell me what your opinion on love is or not?" Roman asked, making a reference to Fall Out Boy a band he remembered Virgil quite liked.
Virgil winced slightly at the nickname, he knew Roman wasn't trying to be mean but he didn't like being referred to as a freak. He pushed away his less than happy thoughts and muttered "Love is....risky."
Roman noticed the slight reaction at the nickname but didn't comment on it. Instead he asked "Would you care to elaborate?"
Virgil sighed "Well, the whole idea of love just seems so risky because you have to put yourself out there for someone who might not even like you the same way and if they don't then it'll be embarrassing. Then if they somehow do like you back you've got someone who'll pick up on any tiny embarrassing habits you have or someone who'll insist on being around you and most relationships end badly. Especially when I'm involved." Virgil mumbled the last part to himself but Roman still heard.
"surely you can see all the positive aspects of them though? The joy of knowing you have someone to turn to when you're feeling low, someone to cuddle up to while watching movies or when trying to sleep at night. Knowing that they love you no matter what and soft kisses and the not so soft kisses and..." Roman hurriedly cut himself off, clearing his throat awkwardly as he noticed he'd been starting to fantasise.
Virgil was looking at Roman and could feel his cheeks start to heat up as he listed those things and struggled to keep the image of Roman doing them out of his head. There was no way he liked Roman. None at all.
At least that's what he tried to tell himself.
"Anyway love can be risky but it is also a magnificent experience to be enjoyed by two people who want nothing more than to see the other happy." Roman summarised, a small smile working it's way onto his lips as an image of Virgils little awkward smile popped into his mind.
"I guess, but like I said there are lots of risks. How would you react if you had to confess to the person you liked right now?" Virgil said.
Roman tried to fight away a blush and replied in a neutral voice "I'd tackle it like the Prince I am and sweep them off their feet with some sort of large romantic gesture."
Virgil hummed and his eyes drifted down to his lap where he noticed he was picking at a loose thread on his ripped jeans.
He didn't want to think about what the person Roman was into looked like, he wasn't going to do that to himself. He huffed in annoyance as he realised what he'd just thought and tried to block it out.
"Really? That's hard to believe. In most real life situations a person could plan for months and then when the day came something could go wrong and ruin everything. Plus what if you go through all the trouble and they don't like you back? Then you just look like a desperate idiot who spent too much time trying to woo someone who had no interest." Virgil said, his head racing with all sorts of horrible scenarios that definitely didn't involve him confessing to Roman. Nope. Definitely not.
Roman was unsure how to respond to that for a second before he eventually said "If the romantic gesture was not appreciated by that specific person then obviously they are not the right person."
Virgil scoffed at that. "So you think that there's someone out there who's simply meant to be with you?"
Roman beamed and opened his mouth to sing Simply Meant To Be but Virgil groaned and exclaimed "Don't start! Seriously, I've had very little sleep and the last thing I want is for you to start singing."
Roman pouted but managed to refrain from singing, something he knew he wouldn't do for anyone but Virgil. "To answer your question without singing then, yes I do believe there is someone out there for me and when I find them I think I shall definitely know."
Virgil felt his eyes prickle slightly, a sign that he was tearing up, and blinked rapidly to try and force it away.
"Virgil are you OK? Is there something in your eye?" Roman suddenly asked and Virgil shook his head.
"Why were you blinking so strangely then?"
"Um... Because I'm tired. I'm struggling to stay awake because all this talk of romance and love has bored me." Virgil said, not wanting to explain the real reason.
Roman got to his feet and said "I shall go then, let you get back to your beauty sleep."
Virgil fought back a blush as he realised Roman had been sitting on his bed right next to him the whole time and almost missed Romans comment. "Yeah like that'd help." he muttered quietly before speaking louder for Roman to hear "Bye then."
Roman smiled and said "Farewell, try not to fall into a cursed slumber like Snow White."
Virgil frowned in confusion. "Why?"
"because you're the fairest of them all." Roman said with a grin and shut the door, barely hearing Virgil mutter "Someone hand me a poisoned apple."
Roman walked back to his own room, pondering the conversation he'd just had.
He thought back to when Virgil had asked what he'd do if he had to confess his feelings to someone. He had said he'd do some grand romantic gesture but he had no clue what sort thing he could do that would impress someone like Virgil.
Virgil wouldn't appreciate him creating a large scene, he hated being stared at by people for long periods of time so he wasn't going to be doing anything in front of the others. Suddenly he had a thought.
What if he invited Virgil to the imagination and created a peaceful landscape with a huge cloudless sky so that when it became night they would be able to see the stars? That was quite romantic but Roman still didn't feel like he'd got it right.
He frowned and decided to drop the topic for now, grabbing his phone and checking through his notifications.
He looked through some of his mentions on Twitter and Instagram, smiling as he noticed some prinxiety and logicality stuff. Suddenly his eyes widened as he read a comment someone had left on a screenshot from the video where he and Logan rap battled.
Logan has an appreciation for poetry? I would have thought that's more Romans thing.
He couldn't understand why he hadn't thought about it sooner. A poem would be perfect because it wasn't anything too loud and attention drawing but it would also be heartfelt and sincere enough to be seen as a grand gesture.
Now all he had to do was create the poem which was easier said than done because he had so many things to do.
Over the next few weeks Roman struggled to balance helping Logan plan things out, helping Patton with creating dreams at night, helping Thomas with his confidence and providing him with little daydreams to brighten his day and writing the poem for Virgil.
He had been running out of energy by the end and as he sat staring at the sheet of paper on his desk he let out a small groan.
He'd almost completed the poem but he didn't know how to end it. He wanted it to rhyme but he couldn't think of anything that rhymed with Virgil.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, slightly stressed out. He was just going to have to leave it and rely on his good looks and charm to keep Virgil from noticing the poem was unfinished.
He got to his feet and double checked his appearance in the mirror, doing finger guns at himself with his usual confident grin to try and prepare himself.
He then walked out of his room with a confident stride and knocked on Virgils door.
It slowly opened to reveal a sleepy looking Virgil. "What do you want?" he asked, rubbing his eyes.
"My apologies, I didn't realise you were asleep." Roman said, feeling guilty because he knew Virgil had trouble sleeping.
"It's all good, I probably would have just woken up from a night....uh anyway what did you want?" Virgil quickly cut himself off so he didn't say too much.
Roman guessed he was going to say nightmare but decided to overlook that for now. "I wanted to invite you to accompany me to the imagination. You'll be able to see the stars and moon really bright tonight."
Virgil frowned and took in Roman properly for the first time since opening his door, he didn't know how but Roman seemed to glow, almost like a star himself. Virgil did have an appreciation for the stars so he guessed that made sense.
Virgil was suddenly aware he'd been staring and Roman was waiting for an answer. "Um... I'll er... Get dressed then."
The door shut with a loud bang and Virgil leant against the door taking a couple breaths to stop himself from freaking out.
He pushed himself away from the door and hurriedly got changed out of the pyjamas he'd been wearing all day. He'd felt too exhausted to do much of anything all day so it was saying something that he was willing to leave his room for Roman.
Virgil shook his head at that thought. He wasn't going to dwell on those thoughts. They were ridiculous and even if they were true, which they weren't, there was no way Roman would feel the same.
Although he had invited Virgil to look at the stars with him, what if..?
Virgil groaned quietly as he threw his purple and black stitched jacket on. He wasn't even sure why he'd agreed to go with Roman, he probably could have gotten away with saying he wanted to go back to sleep.
It wasn't too late to back out. At least that's what he thought as he pulled his door open again but the sight of Romans excited grin drove all thoughts of backing out from his mind.
"Ready to go?" Roman asked unable to stop himself smiling as he took in Virgils amazing hoodie.
Virgil nodded and Roman began to lead the way to the imagination. Virgil kept sneaking glances at him, trying to work out why he'd invited him and also trying to work out why he'd actually agreed.
Roman could feel Virgils eyes on him every now and then but whenever he looked Virgil was looking the opposite direction so he was half wondering if he was just imagining it.
They started walking past a small wood and up a slope that levelled out so the ground was flat at the top.
Virgil couldn't help the gasp that left his lips as he looked up at the sky and saw the stars clearer than he'd ever seen them before.
He would have continued forward but suddenly a hand wrapped around his wrist and tugged him backwards, making him jump in surprise.
"Sorry, it's just I didn't want you to keep walking or you'd fall off the edge." Roman explained, his hand still on Virgils wrist as he gestured to what Virgil now realised was a sheer drop.
Cautiously he stepped forward and peered over and noticed a large lake below. He was very glad Roman had stopped him now.
Roman suddenly realised he was still holding Virgils wrist and felt his face heat up slightly, did he let go and apologise or keep holding until Virgil realised and then apologise or...?
Romans brain ran through a couple scenarios and he decided to just let go without saying anything.
Virgil noticed the sudden lack of warmth on his wrist and eyed Roman curiously. He felt sure Romans face had gone slightly pink although he wasn't sure why.
"So... I told you the stars would be brighter and clearer to see from here." Roman said and Virgil looked back up at the stars, his lips twitching up into a small smile that made Roman want to squeal.
Instead he sat down cross-legged and said "Come sit down."
Virgil tore his eyes away from the stars to glance at Roman only to inhale sharply, his heart thundering in his chest.
The stars were reflected in Romans already sparkling eyes and the light from the moon bathed him in a beautiful silver glow that helped give him an almost ethereal appearance.
All in all he looked like some sort of guardian angel and Virgil couldn't seem to keep his eyes off him as he slowly sat next to him.
Roman noticed the way Virgil kept looking at him and couldn't help but wonder if it was because he had something on his face or if his feelings were returned.
He had never felt so nervous before, because no matter what he'd said to Virgil before about how he'd just move on if he was rejected, he was dreading him not returning the feelings.
"Uh... Um Virgil?" he asked, cringing internally as he stumbled over his words. "I... I uh..."
Virgil looked at Roman in confusion and concern as the usually confident trait seemed to be struggling with his words. "What is it?" he asked unaware of Romans internal struggle.
Roman took a deep breath and said "I created a poem for you."
Virgils eyes widened "Really? Why?"
Roman coughed awkwardly and said "After I've recited it you'll understand."
Virgil shrugged and waited for Roman to start, while internally his mind was racing with all the possible reasons Roman had made him a poem.
Roman cleared his throat and opened his mouth to start but his eyes widened in horror. His mind was blank. He couldn't remember what he'd written.
Virgil waited and noticed the alarm on Romans face as he opened his mouth and no words came out. He frowned before he realised Roman seemed to be struggling to remember whatever poem he created.
"Roman? Have you forgotten the poem?" he asked, trying to ignore the voice in his head that said Roman was lying about making him a poem and was trying to come up with something on the spot because he'd lied.
Roman laughed almost hysterically "What? No! Of.....of course not!"
Virgil raised an eyebrow at the now flustered looking prince. "Are you sure? I think you're actually starting to blush which is odd because nothing seems to make you blush."
Roman sighed "I guess you're an exception to that, like with most things."
"What?" Virgil asked, not sure if he heard him right.
Roman went even redder "Um.... Uh... Oh fuck, I mean shit, I mean ...damn it."
Virgil let out a small chuckle. "Wow and you told me off for swearing?"
Romans face was now almost the same colour as his sash, making it very obvious that he was blushing.
"I uh... OK I did forget the poem so I've kinda got nothing right now and this wasn't supposed to happen. I'm actually.... Very unsure what to do or what to say and I knew I should have brought it with me but I was so certain I'd remember it off by heart even though I only finished it half an hour ago. This has gone wrong very quickly and uh.... Yeah I.. Uh... Ugh this is really embarrassing."
Roman rambled, his face becoming redder and his hands fidgeting frantically in his lap.
Virgil stared at Roman for a few seconds as he tried to work out what was going on and suddenly he gasped" W....wait, did you make me a poem as a.... Grand gesture?"
Roman gulped and nodded, feeling alarmed when Virgil suddenly started to cry. "Oh shit, what's wrong?" he asked in a panicked voice and became confused when Virgil let out a small teary giggle.
"Nothings wrong, I'm just... Having trouble believing this is real. I mean... You're... You. Why would you ever like me? I'm not... Not.... Good enough for someone like you."
Roman froze at Virgils words before pulling him in for a hug, his embarrassment forgotten much like he'd forgotten the poem. "You are perfect to me Virgil. I care for you more than I can even put into words and you always seem to make me do things I'd never normally do. Like when I walked in to talk to you about love and you accidentally referenced a Disney song. You asked me not to sing and if it were anyone else I would have continued but because it was you I held back. You make me blush, when nothing else can and you make me snort despite how undignified it is to do so and you even make me swear but in a good way. You cause me to remember I am not completely perfect, I do have my own faults but that's what makes us all who we are. Just like the things you think are flaws just make me love you even more."
The two of them remained in each other's arms for a long while after Romans declaration, the silence only broken by the occasional sniff from Virgil but it was a comfortable silence.
"That was probably better than any poem you could have ever created." Virgil said eventually, pulling away to look Roman in the eyes.
Roman pouted. "I'm still showing you the poem I made, I worked real hard on it."
Virgil laughed and leant forward, pressing a soft kiss on Romans pouty lips. "I look forward to it."
Romans pout turned into a large beaming smile and he muttered "I guess you were right about one thing."
"what?" Virgil asked raising an eyebrow at him.
"in the real world plans do tend to go wrong. Although it turned out alright in the end." Roman said.
"You did sound a little bit like a desperate idiot for a second too." Virgil teased and silenced Romans protests with another kiss, this one lasting longer.
Roman had a dazed happy expression on his face as he breathed "that was fucking amazing." making Virgil roll his eyes and laugh.
"can we lay here tonight and just look at the stars?" Virgil asked and Roman hesitated.
"It won't be too comfortable." he said and Virgil suddenly smirked.
"Say we can stay here tonight or I'll tell Patton you swore."
Roman made an offended noise. "You're using my own words against me?" he asked in mock horror and Virgil snickered.
"Of course, now shush so I can look at the stars in peace" he laid on his back and stared up at the stars ignoring the way Roman was looking at him.
Eventually Roman laid down too and smiled when Virgil seemed to instinctively snuggle up to him. As time went by Virgil drifted off into a peaceful sleep and Romans last thought before drifting off himself was that even though his plan had failed, he wouldn't change a thing.
