Mixen + Pumpkin carving

“It’s not that bad.”

Mick shook his head. “Nope. I’m not doing it.”

Amaya blew a strand of hair out of her face. “Yeah, it’s slimy, but it’s the only way to hollow it out so you can carve it.”

“You don’t have to do all that,” Mick picked up his knife and stuck it in the outline of the eye. “Just cut and leave the seeds in there.”

“That’s not even a proper pumpkin,” she argued. “You have to get all the pulp and seeds out so you can actually carve it well.”

“I’m not sticking my hands in there,” Mick growled. “I don’t do slimy stuff. A pumpkin’s fine without pulling out all the innards.”

“Really?” Amaya pulled out another snotty clump of pulp and seeds. “Would you bet on it?”

He nodded.

“Then how about we have a competition for the better pumpkin. The rest of the team decides. Loser has to make the winner breakfast without Gideon.”

Mick pulled out the knife and sat down in a chair to start carving. “You’re on.”

Amaya smiled wickedly. “Hope you like making pancakes.”
