2. What is the thing they feel the most guilty about?

“Accidentally” killing his boyfriend in an attack-frenzy after he got burned that one time when he was still a ghoul

3. What is the worst pain they’ve ever experienced?

He had some broken bones and got set on fire once as mentioned above. Though his Embrace probably wins? He’s Ventrue and his blood wasn’t the right type for his sire, so no Kiss-embrace like for other vampires, he had to bleed out in a more messy way

10. What is their greatest mental weakness?

Deep inside he really craves affection, romantic or platonic that can be used against him very easily and is already being used against him by some people

13. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins best describes them?

I think wrath. vengeance comes easily for them, and that’ll be interesting to play out in campaign

15. Who do they hate the most?

They don’t really hate anyone so far, but i’m sure if Miranda told them more about their enemies and their sire they’d find a lot of people to hate then :)

21. What is something that causes them great anxiety?

They have a fear of drowning! It’s not something that keeps them up at night, but they worry very much when faced with the possibility of it happening.

25. Have they ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust?

I very well can’t say Miranda now, can I? No, Umbra has had a rather mundane life, and never had any major heartbreak

12. how did the bullet affect them?

ooooh boy it really messed him up. his motor coordination was shot to hell, and for a long time it takes him a few months of reeducation holed up in goodsprings learning how to shoot and skin geckos again. He also has a lot of anger outbursts and a lot more trouble controlling himself in ways he has never had before. He’s autistic, and whereas before when he got overwhelmed he just shut down into himself, now he has to control the emotions. He works on it for years; when his brain gets taken out in Old World Blues he has to adapt again. It’s painful.

35. what do their companions think of them? are they close? have they done any companion quests?

Tacitus has... one companion, and it is Chevalier lmao. The ingame companions are Chevalier’s friends, after all is said and done. But if he had to take one of them, it would be either ED-E or Raoul. He doesn’t trust Boone (and for good reason); if he hadn’t been a Legionary, he would have gotten along very well with Arcade and Veronica (two older queer/lesbian and gay working on their relationship to their families and what they want out of life). He does respect their opinion, but they don’t trust him, and he them. Lily and Cass are best taken in small doses for Tacitus, but he does keep an eye on them. Raoul is perhaps the one human he gets along with the best. As to the companion quests, Chevalier is the one to do them, as they are much easier to confide in than he is. 

38. how do they deal with injuries? do they use stimpaks, healing powder, med-x? does a companion help them? can they bear a lot of pain, or do they need to attend to injuries immediately? when they do have to see a doctor, do they have a preferred doctor, or do they just see anyone?

If it doesn’t kill him, he will absolutely keep going until he drops. He only trusts healing powder he made himself, and then as he learns the recipe for it, the stimpaks he made himself. He can bear a lot of pain but he does not like health professionals, unless it is the one autodoc he used in the Big Empty.

41. do they like long journeys through the mojave, or do they prefer to travel more quickly? do they prefer using roads or travelling through the deep desert?

Tacitus likes walking, it calms him down and helps him think. It’s a special, private moment he likes sharing with one or two trusted individuals like Cheval. As to roads or desert, he doesn’t really care. If he could, he would run away to some forgotten place and start mapping it all until it holds no secrets for him, then move on to another long deserted area.

"What about children?"

Lucien blinked, pausing in his sketching to arch an eyebrow at the reclining Nadir, who looked back at him steadily. "What about children?"

"Do assassins have kids? I imagine all the murder gets in the way, but..."

"I had kids once," Lucien said flippantly, turning the charcoal stick to the side to shade the hollows under Nadir's chin and around his throat. It was easy to assume the worst about assassins -- that their hands were only good for one thing, for example. Lucien's hands were good for much more than that, and he did a lot less assassinating nowadays, anyway.

Nadir sat up, suddenly interested, and Lucien clucked his teeth and motioned him back into position.

"Sure. Ocheeva and Teinaava. I believe you know them."

Nadir frowned. "What? They're Argonian."

"I noticed. They also came to the Brotherhood as babes. Remember what I said about us being a Family first and foremost? Sometimes that can end up a lot more literally than we think."

Imagining a younger Lucien juggling two Argonian babies with a hapless look on his face, Nadir burst into laughter. Lucien sighed loudly and lowered the charcoal stick, pegging his subject with an exasperated look. "Yes, very funny. Who could imagine Lucien Lachance raising children, right? No wonder they became assassins, what else could he teach them?"

"Now, that's not what I'm thinking and you know it." Nadir sobered, wiping his eyes and sitting up again. Thick coils of dark hair rested on his bare shoulders, framing a smooth strong face that put Lucien in mind of deserts he'd never seen. If Nadir ever had children... well, Lucien hoped to see them. Surely they'd be as beautiful as he imagined.

"None of us are born killers. We could have been something else, all of us. Isn't that what we bring to the Sanctuary? Your cunning and guile and deft hands. My... striking good looks..."

"Don't push it, Brother," Lucien snorted.

"We're just good men in a bad business," Nadir sighed, pushing himself to his feet and plucking the sketch pad out of Lucien's grasp, taking the man's hands and drawing him to his feet as well. "I asked about children because I... can't say I'd mind. You know. Having them." He added, "with you," in an almost-embarrassed mumble.

"Well, aren't you ever full of surprises," Lucien Lachance responded, smiling, warmed by the feeling of being, for one moment, a man with a heart that someone could see, instead of a man who bled and broke hearts and pretended to sleep at night.
