Following The Ways of The Disbelievers
It was narrated from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered the hole of a lizārd, you will enter it too.” وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُننَ مَنْ قبلكُمْ شبْرًا بشبرٍ وذراعاً بذراعٍ حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ». They said: “O Messenger of Allah, (do you mean) al-Yahud wa ʿl-Naṣṣārá (ie: the Jews and the Christians)?” قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ He said: “Who else?” قَالَ: «فَمَنْ».
