In 2021, as part of a neighbourhood art festival, DMG and I put up a huge fabric print of one of my watercolour maps and invited people to tell stories on it! Izzie did the significant amount of hemming on their serger, and then we had a grommetting party on their deck. All in all a fun project, and now I have a huge fabric print of my map to ... do ... something? with? Suggestions welcome!

The farm house where my grandpa grew up and my great-aunt still lives today, Gulland, is a special place. Visits are full of stories and walks through the different fields and forests, some long-established and some planted by my grandpa, who was a forester. Inspired by illustrated maps in fantasy novels, I created a map using names and symbols familiar to my family. Despite having only stayed at Gulland three times (one of which I was very young and memories are very vague, mostly revolving around farm animals!) it's one of my favourite places! This rewarding project also spurred an interest in map making, I think it would be fun to explore digitally illustrating maps in the future. 🤔 🗺️
So I've been making maps for the Dnd sessions I do, and here's the map of the known world. Made with water colours and a black brush pen for details :)
