As sinners, we have broken God's laws and we deserve punishment; we are wrong before God. But on the cross Jesus took our place. When we put our trust in Jesus, our sins our forgiven: we are now in the right, justified, acquitted. God shows mercy and justice by forgiving us through the cross.
