Weaponized Whumpee Dialogue w/Caretakers
“Have you had nightmares like that before?” Caretaker A asked.
Hesitantly, Whumpee nodded.
“Are they always that bad?”
Looking down at their hands, Whumpee shook their head.
“Well, that’s reassuring I suppose.” A said lightheartedly.
“What do you see in the nightmares?” Caretaker B asked.
Whumpee pursed their lips. Quietly, they responded. “Memories.”
“Memories of what?” B pressed.
Whumpee paused briefly. “The other place.”
“Okay.” B said with a nod. “And what happens in your memories of the other place?”
Whumpee’s face fell into a schooled expression, their eyes unseeing. “Punishments.” They looked down at the table with a pained expression. “Murder.”
Whumpee rocked back and forth slightly with the force of their anxiety, their face betraying their internal struggle. Finally, they spoke at a faint whisper. “Whumper thought it was funny… to make me shoot them.”
A seethed internally, their body stiffening in anger. “I think it’s time I stepped up my search for Whumper.”
B gave A a look, but said nothing. They knew they could do nothing to stop the other.
B reached out and took Whumpee’s hand, giving them an earnest look. “Those people… they would have been killed regardless of whether you pulled the trigger.”
“I know,” Whumpee said softly. “Still feels wrong.”
B smiled sadly. “It was wrong. Everything that happened to you was wrong. But it wasn’t your fault.”
Whumpee nodded with an unreadable expression.
“How many?” A asked abruptly.
“So I know how many bullets to put in Whumper before I end them.” A clarified cooly.
Whumpee’s fist clenched and unclenched unconsciously. “Sixteen.” They spoke numbly. “But I buried thirty-eight.”
“Dear god,” B muttered in shock.
A merely nodded, already imagining the many ways they would tear Whumper limb from limb.
