Caduceus had no fucking patience for the Weave Mind and their bullshit 😂
As I watch Caleb Widogast casually stop time, walk up to five of the most powerful beings Exandria has ever witnessed and just place a double fireball combo directly under them I am beginning to think lvl 20 is far more power than the Mighty Nein can be trusted with.
C3E116 The Weave Mind
We’re pleased to bring you stats for C3E116 The Weave Mind!
During the episode, Veth and Beau bet a total of 2700 gold, 2600 of which were won. (The last 100 was for who would kill more members of the Weave Mind. Both killed zero.)
When all is said and done, Veth had the slight upper hand, with Beau owing her 200 gold pieces.
Our top damage dealer of the episode was Caleb, with a total of 417 points. Second was Jester with 252, followed by Fjord with 216 and Yasha with 215. Beau and Veth dealt a respectable 147 and 111 points respectively.
Our healer Caduceus only dealt 8—although he also bore the brunt of the Weave Mind’s attacks, taking more than twice as much damage as anyone else at 312 points.
The five members of the Weave Mind included one Sense Render, two Mind Manipulators, and two Ego Hunters, the last of which used their feature Gouge Ether to take a total of 18 spell slots from the Mighty Nein (8 from Caleb, 10 from Caduceus).
While not an ability unique to the Weave Mind, they also used Dampen Divinity to steal a total of 140 points of healing (40 from Caleb, 100 from Cad).
Mind Blank negated psychic damage 8 times (5 for Yasha, 3 for Caleb), reducing their total amount of damage taken by a not-inconsequential sum of 278 points (174 for Yasha, 104 for Caleb).
In total, the Weave Mind took a shared 845 points of damage, plus an independent 50 points of damage to one that went outside the range of the crystals. While we can’t be sure how much of this damage was soaked up by the temporary hit points they regained each round, we do know that the Weave Mind took approximately 900 points of damage.
Which means that the Mighty Nein fought the Weave Mind in a lair containing nine crystals, and it took ~900 damage to ultimately kill them all. Hmmm…
finally getting around to finishing 116 and one of the weavemind has an ability called "psychic tempest"... sick imogen/keyleth ship name
weave mind: exandrian rodents
caduceus: everything dies without mice
I love that Matt incorporates a design element from JRPGs that attacking the less threatening targets in a final boss fight always weakens the boss(es). That avoids punishing players for using up a precious turn to test whether that's worth it in such a high stakes encounter.
FUCK YOUR FUCKING TRIGONOMETRY!
The whiplash of "Gaz is a Kronk guy obsessed with adorable fungus creatures and we love him so much!" to "Oh. Eugenics and governmental mind control. Oh shit." was quite a thing to collectively experience.
