Journal Prompt 3 Self Portrait and Lighting
This portrait of myself was taken in the University Cove photography studio and demonstrates three point lighting. That beaming smile I owe to the antics of Alex Ivan, Christian Johnson, and Kate Hatton for being so delightfully goofy.
This is my attempt at three point lighting, using my I phone light, flash and lighting in the background.
I chose to smile in this portrait, due to my bubbly personality and to show that I am always smiling. also, I angled my body toward the camera to show friendliness.
I changed the levels in both the background and the fore ground. Added blur to the background and sharpness to my self. I also darkened the background so your eye wouldn't be as distracted.
I figured this picture pretty much sums up how university has been for me so far. Tired, run-down, and hungover. So that's exactly what I tried to capture in this shot. As far as post-production editing, I played around with contrast a bit, as well as levels to really bring out the darker colours. I also dropped the saturation slightly, and, although there was already some lens blur from the original shot, I blurred the background a little more to add a little more focus to myself. I used an intense light source from the left side (my right side) in order to cast some shadows on my features. I also made sure there was no light coming from in front of me.
