i am posting these thoughts 4 archival purposes

iris gets a ton of truly badass lines but i loved her “i will reach my hand into your chest and tear out your heart” back in restoration when her speed was fucking her up due to the mind control. and since that is the Very First e28 fic it would be a shame not to let her follow thru on that that threat in some form

iris and damian have been tied together throughout the entirety of this universe, this dance between them simultaneously bringing them together and pushing them apart. it’s a mirror of what damian did to her when he left cuz he couldn’t stand the intimacy, the universe too binds iris to damian cuz she’s the only one who can pinpoint him as the source of the destabilization of the multiverse, but simultaneously if she gets too close to him her speed goes haywire and she fritzes out of the universe. like she’s the one desperately trying to bring some VERSION of damian into e28 but at the same time keeping it all a secret from him cuz if he knew about the son trapped in betweenspace he’d want him and iris.......can’t have that

anyway

i was thinking that, during the crisis, tallie thinks she kills uk!Nabil while in betweenspace and she knows that someone must ALWAYS occupy betweenspace or else the multiverse will collapse (like no mortar between bricks). so that’s why tom sacrifices himself to stay and sends her and nabil back to e28, which is its own spiralling thing with iris and damian, and is the cause of the schism between them cuz iris opened the gate to betweenspace and because of that damian lost his son (in my earliest versions of this, damian spits at her, “if he’d been OUR SON-” - which makes it even worse)(i have toyed with the idea of making uk!Nabil the son of damian and AU!iris before but....... i’ll have to think more on that)

so basically what this means is that, throughout tallie’s intense journey to try and get her brother out of betweenspace, she also knows that she must put someone back IN in order to keep the multiverse afloat. so her whole plan starts really rolling when she finds out uk!Nabil is alive (this is probably a little ways into the civil war, when she realizes that nabil didn’t kill damian, uk!nabil did)

HOWEVER..........................................

tallie is going to go to iris to try and get her on her side so that she can get tom back (and also win the civil war against nabil/al). so iris will work with her to try and find uk!nabil but in the crucial moment where uk!nabil finally lays his cards on the table, iris is going to find him, stop him, and she is going to reach into his chest, and tear out his heart.

iris is godlike now, is omniscient, the All-Seer. the lives of regular people don’t matter all that much anymore, cuz she’s willing to sacrifice whoever in order to save the multiverse. but uk!nabil killed damian. and iris cannot let him be.

tallie is FURIOUS with her cuz iris just ruined any chance at saving tom they may have had, so i need to figure out how that happens. maybe iris compresses all the universes into one so that mortar between universes isn’t needed anymore. hard reset.

wouldn’t it be fucked if she just. rebooted it back to when lian was 8 years old. so e28 is actually an endless loop of the same terrible timeline.

but then we’d need to give tallie her due as the demon’s head.
