They also asked if I had any headcanons so I'mma throw those onto this post too so it's all together.
The mask was something specific to the early years of Alcina's mutation, before she had more control of herself and her constant thirst.
She found it incredibly embarrassing and undignified, and absolutely despised it.
The only reason she couldn't take it off herself is because it locked in the back rather than simple straps (because Miranda is no idiot).
Miranda still has the mask somewhere. Alcina hasn't needed the thing in decades but she keeps it at precaution. (She's also used it as a threat)
She had to drink blood through a straw, because Miranda refused to take it off every time she was hungry.
Alcina was worried Miranda would make her daughters wear similar masks, since all three were biters and tended to be... less than friendly with Miranda.
It's never come to that but Miranda has threatened it.
Other than extremely humiliating, it was also a pain in the ass and terrible to sleep with.
Heisenberg brings it up all the time just to laugh at her.
