save me robin ‘93 civilian cast… save me…
also even though I posted something on his birthday, I'm also giving a day-after-Tim's-birthday art offering of: my piece from the @timdrakeflipzine !!! took me a bit to track down which external hard drive I had the file stored on 😅 but this is my little ode to the Brentwood era of Tim's solo <3
Since we already have the batfams reaction, we need his friends too. And I'm not js talking about core4 or yj (though, that would also be great). Im also talking about his civillian ones.
They feel as though something is up with danny, they js can't what that is. I js know the Brentwood boys would be supportive. They're finally dating after their time in Brentwood. And you just know danny and kon would have beef. Over what? Well, who's to say:)) also Helena. That's her little brother ever and she should not be surprised he got involved. Though she would be somewhat suspicious of danny.
You are my favorite ever,
As prevoisly stated, Kon and Danny hate each other I swear it's canon.
Bit of a long post
Okay Helena, my love, my light.
I think Helena would show up at Tim and Danny's apartment
"Timmm I don't have anywhere to stay!" Danny probably
I think at the time, Tim would be out working or something, maybe going to the spleen market to window shop. Danny, like the good little boyfriend he is, is at home and actively ruining Tim's kitchen. She would show up during the climax of Danny's mess, when he's this close to burning down the kitchen, and she'd help him out, and Danny would accept the help.
Then after the almost disaster is avoided, he whirls around because entire human beings don't just appear and this isn't a tv show. Helena would definitely just be standing there like 🧍.
Helena leaves after threatening to disembowel Danny, skewer him up like kebab, and feed him to pigs, if he ever pulled anything.
Danny is actually a little shaken after that, because the other people of Tim's family didn't like him, yeah he knew that.
Bruce, Dick, Cass , and Jason are on the consensus that Danny is definitely a threat, and they also think he is a threat to Tim.
Danny gets the first half, but on what wavelength are they to even think that Danny would ever hurt Tim?
Steph, Duke, and Damian do also see as threat, he's built like one and be sure as hell that Bruce gave them all a thorough run down on the Kobras. But they don't see him as a threat to Tim, because he seems too head over heels to even dream of breathing the wrong way around Tim.
Danny thinks they're actually sound of mind.
But Helena is a different breed, she shows up and makes sure the message is clear to Danny that she doesn't like him enough to trust him instantly.
You know that one character that's actually sound of mind in dramas? That's Helena in a way, she'll always be around and suggesting that if Danny ever bothers her little brother that she knows plenty of ways to hide the body.
Danny?
Danny likes her. She's amazing, and he gets why Tim adored her.
Helena is a constant in their lives, a balance, sometimes she's there to cheer on her brother's stupidity, and others she's holding a spork in the way it looks like she could gut a man and telling Danny, in detail, how she once took out a gang in one night with a broken hand.
Helena doesn't mind Danny, he seems nice enough to her brother, and that's the biggest part. He doesn't seem like a piece of shit, or only after something that Tim can give him. However Helena isn't naive, she can recognize when someone poses a possible threat. She thinks that with how attached Danny is to Tim, Tim will at least always have present back up when needed.
Now, friends....lets start super.
Cassie and Bart are semi neutral, but that's mostly because they can't even get Danny alone to actually understand the relationship! They tried, and I mean tried.
From just trying to corner Danny, to sending Tim off to do things, but Danny is just this constant force that follows Tim.
They only ever got him alone once.
The first time they met Danny, the three of them, Cassie, Bart, and Kon, had just heard that Tim was back from disappearing for 6 months, wooohoo! They knock on the door because Kon traced Tim's heartbeat, not to his Nest, but to one of his civilian places, an apartment over near the docks, overlooking a nicer part of the waters.
Instead of getting their lanky, tall, friend at the door, they got a shorter, tanner, tad bit more visible muscle, man at the door.
"Can I help you?" Accented, and rough was definitely the the best way to describe his voice.
"Looking for Tim? Tim Drake?" Cassie answered before the other two could, she shot a glare at Kon, if he had lead them to the wrong place, i swear.
"He's not-"
"Cassie! Bart! Kon!" Tim's face popped over the other guys shoulder, all bright smiles.
"Er, Tim! How are you? Can we-?"
Tim cut Bart off, "Come on, come in"
5 minutes later Tim and this guy, Danny, are sitting on one couch, Danny is nearly merging with Tim like a desperate puppy. While Kon is on a arm chair, Bart has the beanbag chair, and Cassie has the other couch to herself.
Kon hasn't let up glaring at this dude.
"Tim can you get me some water?"
"Sure Bart" Tim promptly walked away from the group, leaving them in his living room while he wandered off to the kitchen.
"So...you are?" Even Cassie hated the way she'd started this converstaion.
"Danny." If there was a competition for most bored face, people would cry if Danny was their opponent.
"I mean, how do you know Tim?" The conversation hadn't been long, and they had no clue as to what Tim's relation was to this guy.
"I've known him for a while, you know, through Robin and everything." Danny smirked and looked Kon dead in the eyes for the next park, "Actually, pretty sure I figured out he was Robin before anyone actually knew."
"You-"
"Here you go Bart," Tim handed him a cup of water and walked over to Danny, kissing his cheek and whispering something in his ear before walking back to the kitchen again.
"Be nice? What're you his dog?" Kon laughed, Cassie and Bart nearly snapped their necks to turn and glare at him.
"What did you say?" *I like the thought that Danny picked up Tim's eerie smile from Brentwood*
"I said, 'What're you his bitch?' "
Moral of the story is we can't have nice things and glass coffee tables, and cannot leave Danny and Kon alone together, scratch that, can't have them around each other.
What they have gathered about Danny is that he is capable in a fight, and as much as none of them, baring Kon, would ever say it to his face (again) he is sort of like a lap dog. He always occupies himself to just be withing reach of Tim, a couple months after they showed back up in Gotham, a new vigilante showed up in Gotham. Said vigilante is never alone and is always hovering around their Rob.
Moving onto Tim's friends. (Civilian)
I like to think that Ives both knows who Tim is, and also moved in with Tim after a while, at one of the civilian places Tim uses more often.
I also generally believe that Tim did ask Ives if he was good with Danny staying with them.
Ives' response was "So long as I don't have to hear you two going at it, and I won't, because the place is sound proofed. Lock the door though, I love you man, but don't need to see that."
Continuing on, I think Danny and Ives like each other and are also friends, which kinda hard not to do when you live together.
Ives and Danny hang out, playing video games when they're both home, binge watch shows together, and have probably have more than one encounter late at night rummaging through the cupboards for food at 3 am.
I also like to think that Danny would introduce Ives to a bunch of new movies and shows, ones that he claims are "really worth to watch, coming from a Bollywood actor, yk".
I think this also generally applies to most of Tim's civilian friends, they find Danny a genuinely cool guy and like his personality. He's funny, talented, and its enjoyable to be around him.
Danny, likewise, likes Tim's friends and sees why Tim likes them and is friends with them.
Okay, general yj98
Anita is intrigued by Danny, overall likes sparring with him on occasion when they're hanging out.
She listens to Cassie's concerns over Danny and where he comes from (The assassin background, iffy family history, and weird knowledge)
Then 5 minutes later she's slamming Danny's face into the mat during sparring. (Its fine though because obviously she's beating his ass for Cassie, and Tim)
Cissie and Greta don't really mind the guy, but at the same time wouldn't mind if he tripped on a wire and died in a ditch.
Cissie and Greta get about 70 different sides of the story, and each time Danny is portrayed differently. Something is up with Daniel Temple, that they know.
I think that the Brentwood boys, on varrying levels, would be like "well damn, finally."
Kip called it. Kip swears up and down that he knew from the start Danny set his eyes on Tim that something was going to happen. Ignoring the fact that Kip one hundred percent caught Danny writing something that sounded far too close to a love letter for Tim, for the them not to date.
Buzz claims he always knew, at least from when Danny reacted almost negatively to those girls at the beach. Buzz gives Danny a noogie and a slap on the back, laughing that Danny "finally got his head out of his ass."
Ali never met the guy, but approves from what Kip has told him. He's happy for Tim and Danny, and takes any excuse to go see Tim again. He has a shared interest in the finer arts with Danny, and thinks the guy is nice enough.
Wesley is formal, yet respectful. He's met Danny, one or two time sin passing, but never really got to know him outside of Tim rambling late at night to annoy Wes.
(Thank you for the ask, because yes, Danny and Kon would maul each other.)
heartbreaking that Tim had to leave bentwood as soon as he and Wes got close, he should’ve been shaking him awake at 3am asking if he thinks Danny had a crush on him
they should have kissed. at least once. as a treat.

“Part of me, a tiny part I’m ashamed of, hopes he’s dead. That would solve so many problems. But dead people don’t snore. Or have breath like the floor of a frat house.”
--Tim Drake on Wesley Thomas (Robin #94 – A Question of Timing)
