Being Black in fandom gets exhausting, racism no matter where you go, even if you go out of your way to avoid it, you will find it, Black fans getting harassed and called slurs, Black va's getting harassed, blushed cosplayers never being allowed to exist normally, Black fandom events struggling to combat racists, whitewashing and racist drawings galore, edits, fanart and even original content from both larger media and smaller artists being subject to racism and indifference, aave being decimated, Blackfishing and blaccents, Black characters always getting vitriol and are never loved the same way, stereotypes and tropes that harm Black rep, gaming still not fully getting skintone ranges and Black hair right, and just, so much more..

White fandomgoers do not care about antiracism or Black fans, even some of the people who say they do, we get blamed for things we didnt do, accused of lying or being dramatic, we constantly get the "its just pixels\fiction" exuse yet they rage over Black characters in media, Twitter is overruns with bigotry, Toyhouse and Tumblr are incredibly white centered and are always somehow werid with people of color and race\racism as a topic, probably will gladly thumbs up genuinely racist "memes" like the whole roboracism thing, its not even just fandom either, its nearly everything! The disabled community, the queer community, the art community, any fandom you can think of, the alternative\punk community, the cosplay community, there's just, sooo much, and most of us are glad to call it out, but like, i dont think some of yall get how draining and exhausting it can get. Telling us not to be online, to avoid tags or block and move on doesn't really work, even if were extra careful, we have to deal with it or here about it, and why should WE have to get offline in spaces we might enjoy beacuse racism is a massive problem that majority white fans dont want to talk about? To me, it seems that many white and sometimes non-black fandomgoers just, forget racism is a massively serious thing that harms us, in many ways.

Just, yeesh, i just wanna say to my fellow Black fandomgoers, or just Black people online in general, your not invalid if you feel like someone your friends with is dismissing your struggles with racism, your allowed to feel exhausted sometimes, your allowed to feel upset sometimes, your allowed to step away or even leave spaces and anyone who calls you a wimp for is a loser, your allowed to want Black only fandom spaces, your allowed to call out racism you see, dont let anyone tell you or treat you like your ridiculous for being unhappy with a problem many people seem to forget get us killed.

Jacob Anderson said "give us the space to be a problem" in one of the pre-season interviews. I wish the fans could fully understand and appreciate what he meant by that. It's important to distinguish what part of Louis's characterization is the abused victim and what part of it is him developing really pathological responses as a result of his trauma, and what parts of it are his innate traits as a complex individual.

Yes, that fucking play was about the fandom, and I can see a big section of the white fandom being performative with their call out posts and their snarky remarks in the tags. I know which ones are performative because I can see other stuff on your blog that just don't add up with your saintly reflections on iwtv.

I say this as a south asian woman who has experienced real life racism - Do not speak for us. Do not take a patronizing tone while speaking of Armand's changed ethnicity. We already fucking know how uncharitable the fandom tends to be towards Louis, Claudia and Armand vis a vis Lestat, you don't deserve a cookie for recognising racism. The problematic aspects of these 3 poc main characters is what makes them compelling and people will create discourse around it. Maybe hear them out before assuming a moral high ground because they don't participate in your echo chamber. Learn to differentiate between a racist reading of the material vs genuine critique.

Hi, you talk a lot about the white fandom but what do you mean by that? Most of the accounts I've seen you attack are not white, other than Virginia vampires as far as I know. For example Sima who you talked about in your last posts is brown, muslim, and probably a lot less privileged than you because of where she lives. It's gross and xenophobic to make fun of her and call her stupid for her English and not understanding western American culture. Also let's not forget this is the internet. Any person can pretend to be anything they want. You could be white yourself for all we know. There's no way to verify unless you post your photo or something. I agree with what you say about Anne Rice and the racism of hardcore book fans but maybe you should be more clear about what and who you're fighting against. Right now it just looks like you attack accounts you don't like for petty reasons and not for any social justice cause.

White fandom does not mean white people. I have said this so many times. White fandom means the ppl who support the ideas of white supremacy, that white ppl's ideals and comfort should be prioritized over everyone else and "we don't have to talk about race because that's "the real racism."" This has been happening nonstop with the way that Lestat, a fictional white man, is defended to death while real black and brown fans are openly bullied within the fandom (usually to defend *him*!) and nobody fucking cares. They care even less because of how white fandom is now made up of fans who aren't white, who convince white ppl even more that "this is the way, don't listen to those ppl, they're all (euphemism for racial slurs goes here)." If you come into a fandom that centers black American history in its plot and is also well known as a fandom to be antiblack af, that's literally on u to figure out. loustat-0 has been here, it's been two fucking years, I don't give a shit what her background is, this is no excuse. the ao3 stats post I made breached containment a while ago and now it’s a 50/50 split of ‘no one’s surprised’ and ‘these are the worst survey results ever and these results are bullshit’ which. okay. criticizing research results is always fair. but then I saw these tags:

it hasn’t been primarily white men that have had the audacity to say that racism needs to stay on ao3, it hasn’t been primarily white men that have harassed fandom/media scholars of color like stitch and rukmini pande for YEARS, it hasn’t been primarily white men who have been absolute pieces of shit to characters of color, especially when it comes to fucking shipping.
