EVERYONE SHUT UP THIS IS PRECIOUS
Remember to eat today. Eating is good. Unless you are eating poisonous mushrooms. Do not eat poisonous mushrooms.
James has never let himself look as anxious as he was right now. He’d never had a sleepover before, and he certainly wasn’t looking to screw it up. That’s why he tried to sneak into Pumpkin’s room before he assumed the man would be there- most likely wrong, because… well, it’s Pumpkin’s room. Why wouldn’t he be there?
With a pillow and blanket tucked under one arm, and a seal plush in the other, he pushed the door open. His hair was a little frazzled, and he stood in shorts, socks, and a Pony Express t-shirt that was a little too big. Anyone who saw him could probably mistake him for a teenage boy just woken up.
Instead of, you know, a grown man anxious about falling asleep around other people.

Sure enough, the dolls (magical and nonmagical alike) have been relocated to his desk, carefully laid beside the art he's been gifted -- safely out of the way as Curly hauls the mattress and bedding up off his bunk, turning to make for the door-
Only to find himself face-to-face with James as the door opens for him, blinking for a few seconds and then beaming. His whole face lights up with excitement, just like an overgrown puppy, as soon as he catches a glimpse of his new friend. "James! I'm glad to see you, I- uh. Well, as you can see, I was just getting things ready for you to come over. I'm sure Sunshine will be here soon, too."
He wasn't quite expecting for James to arrive this soon, so he hadn't bothered with a shirt; the navy blue pajama pants he wears are riding low on his hips, and he certainly does look good out of uniform like this...toned, handsome, and respectfully giving James' attire only the briefest glance before settling his attention on his face once more. He doesn't need to spend time admiring how endearingly disheveled James looks, especially not in front of the man himself.
"Ready to go?"

(Also, I feel the same about the term myself.)
I was never a person for New Year's resolutions. They always failed, I always figured they were just empty promises for ourselves.
Last year, I saw a post about silly/wholesome resolutions and decided to make one for 2024. My mental health was terrible in 2023, I fell into a deep depression, I wanted to die more often than not, but I made it through, and I decided that in '24 I was going to take more notice of nature around me and, if anything felt pretty to me and called my attention, I'd take a picture of it.
I did that the whole year and it was so nice. This year still wasn't easy, but a series of things meant that I actually did get a bit better and paying attention to beautiful things around me was at least a good thing, even if it didn't fix me.
I intend to keep doing that and for next year, I might try to write more about what happens in my life, what I read, what I want... Journaling is something I always wanted to take up properly
