I have a movie to recommend for lovers of defiant whumpees, escape attempts, and multiple whumpers.
The Loved Ones has all of the above, but also has a small bit of nonexplicit incest (doesn't go any further than looking and dancing). I enjoyed it and found it by chance when looking for horrors to watch.
Best whump fics out there? Arc reactor angst, howard's abuse, alcoholism, etc. Just poor , hurt, tony?

first of all i would recommend anything tony-centric written by taylortut , she writes absolutely amazing tony whump/sickfics i reread them literally all the time and there are so many of them so start there for sure !! you can find her fics over at her ao3

Burning Candles ft a overworked tony who is always just a consultant and not ‘recommended’ for the avengers initiative (actually this author has a tonne of good tony whump pls check them out!!!)
One of Those Days 21k words of gold, tony gets sick and has complications w the arc reactor which exacerbates his condition, and the team just think hes fallen back into his old habits of drinking and partying . angst angst angst whump galoreee
Deep Waters the one where tony is fine, just has a lil pstd after some arc reactor issues triggering Not Good Memories and is a little hydrophobic when be remembers afghanistan and is thrown into water.
Blow Out - where tony gets the avengers out of a cave by using the arc reactors power, and almost dies for a second there. good stuff
It Only Hurts (When I Breathe)- ahhhh the infamous asthma!tony Not Breathing breathing decreased lung capacity fic. a must read !
This Wasn't What the Brochure Promised - "Okay. Just." Now was not the time for pride, but it was still damned difficult talking about the arc reactor casually. He broke out in a cold sweat and had trouble catching his breath and oh, yes, breathing. That was important, too. "Is there any chance we can maybe condense our timeline for escape?""Why?" And Begin Again Tomorrow - that fic where the avengers dont actually realise that the arc reactor keeps tony alive and they threaten to take it out to ‘shut him up for a while’ and jarvis gets a lil touchy about people threatening Sir
The Sacrifice Play - the blurb says it all. "Sir, your reactor can no longer sustain that level of power," JARVIS warned. "It will cause a crash." - The team is in trouble and the odds aren't great, so Tony plays the sacrificial ram. Again.
Arc Tremors - this is 125k words (ik a long one) of just tony stark arc reactor whump goodness; i mean who needs sleep anyway just read this instead?
I've asked you but apparently tumblr ate the ask... how do you find more whump blogs and series to follow? It's difficult to find them due to their small presence 😢 if you'd be so kind, are we allowed to send recommendations and self plugs here? It would help others to find blogs that suit their taste

Honestly! It can be so tricky sometimes! I personally mostly find whump blogs and new works through scouring tags, reccomendations, interactions and reblogs popping up on my dash (this the MOST)!
Which is exactly why I argue reblogs are SO incredibly vital in our little community! Everyone starts somewhere, and reblogs are how we get to give us whump writers a platform and spread the love for each other's work! I always try my best to make sure I share someone's work once I've read it! 🥰
