Okay, I got another whump scenario from my dreams LMAO

Imagine, a Whumpee is stabbed and the tip of the sword/dagger/whatever breaks off and is logged inside of them. The problem is, besides the obvious, is that the weapon was cursed with black magic or something.

Now, the Whumpee is slowly wasting away, ravaged by the magic before the Caretaker can take the offending piece of weaponry out.

+Bonus points if the magic from the cursed weapon interferes with the magic healing attempts.

Look at him. Look how caring and gentle this giant is.

It would be a shame if this fatherly buffy fluffy figure was main whumpee of the whole series, getting kidnapped, electrocuted, experimented on, forced to fight on te arena, restrained by wrists to the ceiling, of course relieving trauma with hallucinations and other fun stuff.

But he was.

He was a perfect Whumpee.

Hey, hey, I returned with one of my favorite character tropes: "I totally don't care about my students, but I will probably die for them." I just started rewatching clips of Kakashi (Naruto), Aizawa (My Hero Academia), and Kalego (Welcome to Demon School Iruma kun)........

So here is another Whump fanfiction recommendation (someday I will actually make a master list of my favorite whump fanfics ever 👁👄👁 💛).

This one is focused on Kakashi and Team 7 (Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura). Honestly, it is VERY WELL written! Not only does it have whump (oh, it does not disappoint), but it also explores the relationship and characterizes the whole team 7. Set somewhere after the Zabuza mission, it is honestly a joy to read with some parts that I have already re read a few times :)

I don't want to spoil much, but here are a few whump tropes you will find in the story: stab wounds, blood, fever, nightmares, broken bones, emotional whump, temporarily hearing loss, blood loss, hidden injuries, chakra exhaustion, delirium, infection, sepsis, and field surgery

TWs: There are some pretty graphic injury descriptions, but the author does include TWs in the work itself.

Okay, hear me out. This whump scenario came to me in a dream, and I don't even want to know what that means about my mental state/ j

The setting can be fictional or nonfictional (but it works best in nonfictional historical settings or fantasy medieval etc)

Okay, so the Whumpee is shot with an arrow (in my case, he was doing the "jump in front of the bullet" and "use your body as a shield" tropes) which is coated in poison. The arrowhead gets stuck inside, and it needs to be removed via surgery (the important part is that they need to open up the wound or something). The caveat, however, is that the arrow is covered with anticoagulant poison, so every time the Caretaker tries to untie the bandages or do anything to take out the arrowhead, they risk killing the Whumpee through severe blood loss. If they do not take out the arrowhead, the wound will most likely get infected and kill the Whumpee that way.

Que the team arguing with each other, as the Whumpee lays on the bed with bloodied bandages, about what to do. Maybe they have to go on a race against time to get the herbs needed to flush out the poison. Maybe they are far away from any civilization, and the Caretaker has no means of treating the Whumpee, so they hopelessly watch as they bleed to death (not enough comfort for me, but hey, "Major character death" enjoyers have your crumbs/ affectionate). Maybe the Caretaker has to leave the arrowhead in and hope for the best. Maybe the Caretaker has to perform the surgery as fast as possible and pray that the Whumpee doesn't due from blood loss before (or after) they are finished.

It also opens up to so much potential with respect to medicine and poison interaction. Maybe the painkillers might have an adverse effect if combined with this specific poison, so the Whumpee has to endure the pain of surgery as the Caretaker continuously apologizes for having to hurt them.

Also, also, delirium and high fever. Maybe from the arrowhead, the poison, or the stress from thr wound/medical procedures the Whumpee is wracked with high fever and everything delicious that comed with that (I will never get tired of having a delirius and sick character 👁👄👁).

Isekai and Whump Manhwa Recommendation- Inso's Law

Okay, so it have been a little while since I posted something substantial, but eh, better late than ever 😅

Today's recommendation is one of my favorite isekai manhwas (I don't like anything that is purely about romance, but I am a slut for isekais and reincarnations manhwas 😭😩) This manhwa is a good salad mix of gorgeous art, good storytelling, compeling characters, and delicious crumbs of emotional and physical whump.

My Rating: 4.7/5 | Favorite Character: Kwon Eunhyung | Whump?: Yes

I believe that there is some whump for most of the characters, but since this is not some kind of action or adventure manhwa, I can't say that there is a lot of it. Mostly emotional whump, but the character growth is so compelling that you really want to continue to read even if the characters are bnot constantly whumpd. I will post a few juicy whump screenshots and rambling of my favorite character whump under the cut so people who don't want spoilers can stay safe 🙂 💛

I really like the kind of characters that keep their emotions to themself and care about others much more than they care about themselves. It feels so much more impactful when they finally break 0w0.

Eunhyung has a really sad backstory so he has a panick attack when Dan-I almost gets hit by car and she has to lie to him to call him down 😢

He also had more whump in the later chapters when his dad got hurt the same way that his mother died when he was little... Beautiful *Wipes away a single tear* Did I mentioned that he has a sick younger sister? He is so afraid to loose other that he build up his walls and doesn't let others take care of him (not like other characters will let him be alone, though).

I also ship him with the "main character" of the novel Ban Yeoryeong, just look at them....

Recently, I realized that I really like it when we are shown the perspective of the Whumpee as they are hurt. You know, when everything is distorted and their team mates are yelling and worried around them, the time jumps from different places to the er rooms as they are in and out of consciousness, the confusion and pain in their eyes........ Peak Whump!!!!!!!

Here are some examples I can remember from the top of my head. Please let me know if there is more!

1. CSI (The original one)- season 6 episode 24 (Whump starts at episode 23)

Character: Jim Brass

Whump- shot, blood from the mouth, transported to the hospital, codes and resuscitated, worried friend, surgery, codes and resuscitatated again, eventual recovery.

2. The Night Shift- season 1 episode 8 (whump starts at episode 7)

Character: Topher

Whump: Shot in the stomach, collapses, transported to er, surgery, worried friends, codes, another emergency surgery, eventual recovery.

3. Criminal Minds- season 9 episode 23 and 24

Character: Spencer Reid

Whump: Shot in the neck, saves a friend, transported to the er, surgery, worried friends, eventual recovery.

4. The West Wing- season season 2 episodes 1 and 2 [a 2-parter] (whump starts technically at season 1 episode 22)

Character: Josh Lyman

Whump: Shot, found by a friend, worried friends, transported to the er, long surgery, eventual recovery.

(P.S. I actually don't really watch any political TV shows, but damn do they do a good Whump scenes! If you continue watching, he will eventually go through some PTSD episodes and get better with the help of friends. So if you into these kinds of shows, I would say it's pretty good)

5. Grey's Anatomy- season 2 episode 26 (whump starts at the end of season episode 25)

Character: Preston Burke

Whump: Shot in the shoulder, worried colleagues, collapsed lung, codes and resuscitated, surgery, woken up during surgery, pain, eventual recovery with some later complications.

(P.S. Okay, I sometimes laugh at this show and how absurd it got, but, hey, I do remember this scene fitting for this post so..............)

My Favorite Whump Scenes- Part 1

Although I am happy to consume almost any whump there is, I find myself coming back to some scenes in particular. Here is a list of some of my favorite whump scenes so far, hope you like it and maybe you'll find some new shows out of it (Most of the series will have more whump, but I will just include scenes that I found particularly intriguing :0 ). I will also try to not discuss any spoilers aside form whump and will not include whump that lead to death until otherwise noted (I like my comfort too afterwards soooo…..)

1)Series name: The Unit -Episode: Season 3 episode 7 (“Five Brothers”) -Whumpee: Charles Grey -Type of whump: Oh my, what does it not have? Gunshot wounds, the whumpee getting weaker, field surgery, being in a dangerous situation without access to hospital and medical equipment, passing out, asking the worried friends to leave him, CPR, carrying the whumpee, blood loss… Check, check, and check! Also there is a comfort and hospital scenes afterwards :) TW: This episode is pretty heavy in its setting, with recent events, please be careful in watching since one of the characters is forced to shoot a young adult. It also depicts war and how civilians are greatly affected by the fighting and other countries’ involvement. -Whump list availability: You can find most of the whump on ---Whumpapedia and the main Google Whump spreadsheet. There is a bit more, but most of it probably can be find online or just by watching the show. -More: This show is my guilty pleasure and surprisingly pretty good. Sure it can be cheesy sometimes and the last season is a bit wonky, but I fell in love with the main team. What I also like is that the morality is not black and white all the time, sure we know who we are rooting for, but some episodes are quite heavy if you think about it. Otherwise, there are many good whump episodes for almost all of the characters and I find the bromance and the plot of the show to be enjoyable. Also, for some reason it also focuses on the wives of the characters- Just skip all of their segments, half of them are so annoying and really unnecessary for the plot.

-Series name: Sea patrol -Episode: Season 1 episode 4 (“Irukandji”) -Whumpee: Toby “Chefo” Jones (and one more) -Types of Whump: Bad reaction to jellyfish sting, screaming from pain, delirious, concerned friends, CPR, morphine, sweating, far away from Hospital and any medical professionals. -Whump list availability: You can find most of the whump on Whumpapedia and the main Google Whump spreadsheet and a beautiful tumblr list by @what-the-whump -More: Another of my guilty pleasure shows, the plot is a bit wonky and cheesy at times (plus they really have dropped the ball on character development for half of the characters who really had such a bright future and that, unfortunately, makes them look like stale crackers at best and borderline racists at worst. I mean they try, but they made some characters dirty :( ) there is a decent amount of whup and the premise and setting of the show is unique. At least I haven't seen a lot of shows like that.

-Series name: The Doctor Blake Mysteries -Episode: Season 4 episode 1 (The Open Road) -Whumpree: Matthew Lawson -Types of Whump: Pushes his subordinate out of the way of a car, hit by said car, resetting the bone without anesthesia, worried friends and aftercare. Plus his friend got so pissed at the perpetrator that he threatened to blow the henchmen away with dynamite…. Idk, I found that really neat. Later returns with a cane. Whump list availability:You can find most of the whump on Whumpapedia and the main Google Whump spreadsheet. -More: I like these kind of British, timey, police procedural shows, so I watch them just for the funsies and whump is just a cherry on top of a metaphorical ice cream. The plot is pretty good, but this is not going to be everyone's type of show.

-Series name: Suspicious partner (kdrama) -Episode: Season 1 episode 25 (Attributable Reasons) -Whumpee: Officer Bang -Types of Whump: For real, one of my favorite whump scenes that I found in kdrama, the characters’ reactions are so juicy :) First we have a fight, stabbing, friends finding the whumpee, guilt, hospital, kinda coma for a few episodes, and so much emotional whump. -Whump list availability: Almost nothing, besides dome post for ML on tumblr :( I myself stumbled on this due to a complete, but happy, accident. -More: The acting is from the ML towards the whumpee was top notch, but it is a bit too long. It has a nice central romance, but since I am not too interested in romance I honestly can't talk too much about it. Although I know people enjoy it, it is worth the watch from the beginning to see how it develops. To be honest, I found this drama accidentally by searching the Whumpee's actor on tumblr since he is one of the main characters from Taxi driver kdrama and I saw this one Whump post…. I couldn't pass up on that opportunity…. Anyways, the actors, plot, and acting is pretty good, so I think most people would enjoy the watch (except for that random kind they found for a case (?) at the end- he is sooooo annoying to me ). By the way, not the only whump in the series, but in my opinion it's the best and its pretty light on whump otherwise.
