Have any tips for getting long short hair into a wig cap?

I'm having trouble with my wig cap; my hair just won't stay in. It's too long. But I can't tie it up and put it in because my hair is too short. Everything on google is "how to put on a wig with long hair" or "how to put on a wig with short hair" but it's never "short but not short enough". All the hair that comes out of the cap would be fine if I was trying to put on a long wig, but my wig is short so my black hair is very visible under the short blond hair. I've tried putting in gel and hairspray but the hair won't stay.

not a confession, but idk where else to go to ask so- does anybody have a way to keep a doll's headcap on? my girl's headcap likes to fall off if i lay her down or pull on her wig wrong. would painters tape help it stay on? any other methods???

I used to use wig caps for my dolls but now I just use magnets so I have like a stack of 15 wigs caps and I don't know what to do with them. I could either sell them (and make like nothing after all the fees) or make silicon kips out of them? hmm...

So I just go my hair cut short!!!!! I'm hoping it will be easier for me now to wear wig caps!!!
