Day 7: Create a prompt for someone else to fill
Summer camp whump ideas! What could possibly happen?
⛺️ Finding shelter: Does the camp provide it? Is it a tent, or a cabin? Are they nice digs, or are they drafty and dilapidated? Uh oh, it's raining! Are there holes in the roof? Is the window stuck open letting in the bugs?
🌞🌩 What's the weather like?: Did whumpee go hiking in a heat wave? Was the top of the mountain they climbed colder than they expected? Did they get caught in a thunderstorm?
🍖💧 Food and water: Did whumpee pack enough food for the trip? Did they have to hunt and gather on their own? Has some of that food gone rotten? Did they get a stomach ache? What about water? Did their water bottle leak, or did they just run out? How much farther before they can refill it? Is the water source safe, or is it stagnant lake or a rusty old spigot?
🪲🐻 Bugs and beasts: What critters does whumpee run into while camping? Have wasps made a nest on the balcony of the cabin? Is there a squirrel in the attic? What happens if a bear breaks into whumpee's car? What if they encounter a snake on the trail (dangerous or not)? Have they packed enough mosquito repellent to not get eaten alive? What's lurking in the depths of the lake?
🧭 Navigation: This trek would be a lot easier if whumpee's compass wasn't broken... or if they knew how to read it (they don't, they have always relied on their phone and technology telling them the way up until now)... or if they had remembered to bring one...
🏝 Lost/separated: Whumpee gets separated from their fellow campers/team... What will they do? How will they survive? Can they find their way back to base camp or to the rest of the group? How will they communicate? Does their phone have signal? Do they use walkie talkies or radios? Do they light a fire and hope that someone sees the smoke? Do they head out to find them, or do they stay put?
🔥 Fire: How do they start a fire, and what is it's purpose? Warmth? To cook? To get the attention of a search party? Is it hard to start a fire due to wet logs, or easy because of whumpee's survival training? Does whumpee know fire safety? What happens if they trip and get a little too close to the flames?
🥶🥵 Temperature control (or lack thereof): Does whumpee get shock from jumping into an icy swimming pool or taking an icy cold shower? Is it sweltering hot out and whumpee collapses from heat exhaustion? Does a tropical night keep whumpee awake and unable to think? They need to rest, but they can't stop sweating...
🎵 Grinning and bearing it: Oh God... they're doing those goofy group chants at lunch and dinner again. Is whumpee too embarrassed to join in with the silly sayings, or are they throwing away their inhibitions and finding their place among friends? Are the chants really fun and innocent, or do they actually sound sinister and creepy once whumpee really thinks about them? What about the stories around the campfire? Is whumpee freaked out after a ghost story? Do they feel like the tales told are more of an omen or warning than a fictional happening?
🛏 Bedtime!: Where is whumpee sleeping? An old spring mattress? A sleeping bag? On the floor? In open air? Are they alone, or with someone else? A friend? A teammate? Whumper? Are they sharing a single mattress, or is it a rickety old bunk bed? Who's got the top bunk? Does the other person snore? Can whumpee even get to sleep? Do they have nightmares? What if they need to get up in the middle of the night? Are they afraid of the dark? Have the batteries in their flashlight died? Why does every sound make them jump?
👁👁 Lurking in the shadows: Is whumpee scared of the woods? Why do they feel like they're being watched when they pass that one tree by the lake house? The noises coming from the walls are just tree branches scraping against the side of the cabin... right? No one actually is in the tent next door...
🛶🎯 Activities gone awry: Oh no! The canoe tipped! Can whumpee swim? Did they forget their life jacket? Archery lessons went really badly when whumpee found out just how bad of a shot they are. Crud... was that poison ivy that they just walked through to fetch that frisbee? Help! They fell from a tree! Rock climbing is fun until you slip... is whumpee's partner paying close enough attention on the belay rope?
🪤Trapped: What if a rock slide seals whumpee in a cave while on a hike? What if the door to an abandoned cabin blows shut and is held closed by a fallen tree limb? What if whumper locks whumpee in an old saw mill? Was whumpee brought to this place against their will? Are they being held captive in a creepy hunting lodge? What happens if whumpee gets caught in someone's hunting traps? A net? A pit? A bear trap? The signs said not to leave the trail for a reason...
🪢 Restrained: There are so many ways to tie up an whumpee in the woods... Vines, tether them to a tree, bind them with the line from their own fishing pole, use their rescue rope to secure them to a wet stalagmite... Tie them up and leave them suspended over the ropes course or shove them down a zip line... Unlace their hiking boots and use the laces to lash their wrists together. Gag them with their emergency duct tape or the bandana they've been using to wipe away their sweat. Turn their sleeping bag into a sleepsack with straps and belts. Wrap them in the tarp that they used for the base of their tent. Tie them to the dock and let them bake in the summer sun.
🏠 Homesickness: Good old fashioned emotional whump! How will they cope with being away from home? Will they send a letter to their loved ones? Will they have an awful time wishing they were back with their creature comforts? Or will they learn to appreciate their time in nature?
🤒 Actual sickness: Whumpee gets a fever in the woods. Are they alone? How will they get back to camp when they can barely stand? What will sustain them until they can recover? How will they rest when it's not safe out in the open? Does the food that they forage help, or hurt? What if they ate a dangerous mushroom or berry? How does that make their symptoms get worse? How do they improve? Are they sick because of an animal bite? Can they nullify the effects of venom? If they're stuck inside of a tent or cabin, how do they treat themselves with what they have? Do they hope for the best and act on instinct, or do they have knowledge or access to books on how to handle medical problems? What happens when whumpee realizes that they are VERY allergic to whatever's blooming and floating around in the air right now?
🩹🤕 Wound tending: Did whumpee remember to stick a first aid kit in their bag before they left, or are they now forced to wrap a wound in a scrap of their shirt that they had to rip into a makeshift bandage? Does the cabin have band-aids, or did they forget to replace those after the last camp session? What will they do instead? Has the ointment gone off after all of these years? How will whumpee clean that wound when they're miles away from a water source? Or if they are close to a water source, is it safe and clean to use, or will it give whumpee an infection? If a teammate is incapacitated due to a serious injury, how will whumpee get them back to camp? Once they're back at their shelter, is it safe to leave them alone?
