Story Overview:

Two college boys have their peaceful lives ripped apart when a ransom-seeking stranger abducts Darius, the son of wealthy parents. The kidnapper gets more than he bargained for when Tristan, Darius’ roommate is home during the invasion. In captivity the friends must lean on each other to survive their harrowing situation and find a way out of their shared hell.

FAQ:

Weren't Tristan and Darius called “T” and “D” before? Yes, for a long time several entries had the boy's names as their stand-in names, which were "T" and "D". I wanted to get the entries that I wrote for WoW's Birthday Whump Event! posted in time for the month that the event was happening, so Tristan and Darius were still nameless when I initially started posting pieces of the story. That is also why you might see comments below entries, my own personal tags, and several other things on this blog referring to the characters as "T" and "D". Their names weren't properly bestowed upon them until 7/17/2024, even though they had been around on this blog since 4/1/2024.

Does their captor have a name? Yes, but he doesn't want Tristan or Darius to know it. To them he's just "their captor" or "the man".

How old are the characters in your main story? Darius and Tristan are college age, though Iʻm not sure what specific ages yet. Theyʻre both beyond legal drinking age, and Darius is slightly older than Tristan. Thatʻs all I know for now, as Iʻm still writing the main canon story.  Tentatively I have set Tristan's age at 22, but that is subject to change. They might be older or younger in side fics/AUs. If so, Iʻll state it in the post of the story entry itself.

Why is the “D” capitalized in “We Are TroubleD”? Because the character's initials make up the title of the story! The "T" comes from "Tristan" and the "D" comes from "Darius", therefore, "T"rouble"D"! The "We" is Tristan and Darius, and they are in trouble because they are whump characters.

How often do you update your story? It tends to take me about a month or so to write a chapter, give or take. Sometimes I can crank one out a little quicker than that, but life is busy for me and I don't always have as much time to write as I'd like. I hope to get entries out as quickly as possible when I can. Fingers crossed there's not too much time between posts!

You once had several WIPs posted for a chapter called "It's Okay". What happened to that chapter? It got way too long, so I split it into two chapters, "The Dinner" and "The Walking Disaster". When it was still one chapter it was supposed to be a flashback that Tristan had right after the chapter "Below the Belt", but two chapters of flashback just felt like too much for one go, so they're on their own now.

Can I draw/write about your characters? Sure! Though it might be a bit challenging without references or profiles for them yet. Hopefully Iʻll have those made for the future! The one thing I ask is that if you create anything with my characters, please link back to me and donʻt claim them as your own. Thanks!

A fun game that I personally find entertaining to play is when someone mass-likes posts or reblogs from this blog, I try to figure out what tag they were searching through. Sometimes it's a bit of a challenge since I'm annoyingly thorough with my tags (feel lucky that tumblr cuts it off after a certain amount... it didn't used to be that way!)

This isn't a call out post, btw or targeting anyone specific. I love it when people like the things I have on here and I'm genuinely happy that my tags can help you find more of what you enjoy! Please continue to browse at your leisure and like/reblog as much as you want! It doesn't bother me at all. Like I said, I just find it amusing.

“You have been rude and disrespectful to the other employees. We have been over this. If you are upset, take it out on the company stress toy. That’s why we have it in the first place.”

Whumper starts to protest. "But I'm in the middle of---"

"No buts!" Their boss takes them by the shoulders and steers them away from their desk. "You're obviously too stressed to work with the team right now. Take 5, and come back when you've taken out all that unhealthy agression, m'kay?"

Whumper's eye twitches. Their boss's condescension isn't helping their "unhealthy aggression." They relent, however, and travel down the hall to an out-of-the-way portion of the building.

They stand in front of the repurposed supply closet. For a moment, they consider not going in, and simply letting the silence in the quieter part of the building calm them down instead. Soon, though, the distant sound of their coworkers' incessant chattering echoes down the hall, and their anger is stirred up again. They grip the doorknob tightly and whip the closet door open.

The stress toy is curled up in the corner of the dark room. It sits up straight as the light streams in, blinking sleep from its eyes.

"Napping at two in the afternoon?" Whumper strolls into the room, one hand in their pocket, the other slowly closing the door behind them. "I wish that could be me."

The stress toy squirms away from them, pressing its back into the cold concrete wall, already stained with its own dried blood from previous sessions.

"Let's get some light in here." Whumper pulls the cord attached to the lightbulb, illuminating the closet in sickly yellow hues. They lean down to inspect the stress toy. It's looking a little worse for wear, with some bruises and cuts still fresh on its skin. Its mouth is duct taped shut, and its hands and feet are tied.

Whumper wrinkles their nose. "My boss did most of this, didn't he? He's such a sadist. At least you're still wearing clothes."

The stress toy's eyes dart between Whumper and the shelf of tools beside them.

"He's actually the one who sent me here. He can't wrap his dense head around the fact that not everybody relieves stress like he does." Whumper taps their fingers on the shelf, perusing its contents, letting their gaze linger on each item, as if they can't decide what to pick. There's a crowbar, a knife, a pack of needles...

The stress toy lets out a small whimper.

"Oh, sorry, did you have something to say?" Whumper leans down and rips the duct tape off of its mouth in one swift and calculated motion. It yelps, sucking in a breath through its clenched teeth. "There you go. What's up?"

The stress toy pants for a second, before simply saying: "You don't have to."

Its voice is ragged and weary. No doubt it's been strained many times from screaming.

Whumper's gaze softens. They finally settle on their tool of choice: a sharpie. They take it off the shelf and sit down on the floor. "I know. Come here."

The stress toy awkwardly shuffles forward, keeping their head down. Whumper takes their wrist, uncaps the sharpie, and starts to draw on their forearm.

"I can be quite forgetful when I'm angry. Sometimes I forget really important things. Like locking the door behind me."

It glances up at Whumper, a tiny glimmer of hope crossing its face.

"And I also forget how to get around this place. That's why I always doodle maps on everything. It's almost subconscious, now."

Whumper capped the sharpie, stood up, and checked their watch. "It's almost been five minutes. I'll have to go back, soon."

"Thank you," the stress toy whispered, looking at the map drawn on their arm in awe.

Whumper looked at them with pity. "Don't be thanking me." They grabbed the crowbar from the shelf. "I still have to dispel suspicion."

It's eyes widened.

"Sorry," Whumper said, raising the crowbar above their head. "Boss's orders."

Whumper scrubbed the blood off their hands in the bathroom. It had been a little longer than five minutes. Hopefully their boss wouldn't be too mad.

They turned off the water and looked at themselves in the mirror.

Maybe their boss was right.

That had felt good.

We love a nice gun barrel used to brush Whumpee’s hair out of their face. We love when the cold metal passes over a bruise and presses down gently, drawing out a wince or a groan.

Whumper uses Whumpee’s own tie as a gag.

Whumper also uses the extra length of the tie as a leash, yanking Whumpee forward, adding to their shame.

Whumpee is a muffled mess, red lines around their mouth and their cheeks pink from humiliation. Their breathing is hard against the gag and they glare up at Whumper, who grins at their catch.

The rest of Whumpee’s outfit is in disarray. Their white shirt is stained with blood and several buttons are missing. Their hair is sweaty and draped across their face and their pants are torn.

Whumpee wants nothing more than to disappear but Whumper won’t be letting go of their prize any time soon.
