what exactly am i counting as "straightbait" you ask?

seeing as straightbait is not an actual thing, i'm going to necessarily be loose about what does and doesn't count. it's up to you whether something counts enough to submit, but if you're unsure, just submit it anyway and i'll make my own call. couples who seem at first to be straightmarriage endgame but are revealed to be queer or otherwise don't get together, couples whose romance is teased but never or only-after-a-fucking-ordeal confirmed as such, m/f pairs who have some kind of weird fucking thing going on that is never explicitly named platonic or romantic, buried straights, straights who for whatever reason have a relationship trajectory that feels queercoded in some way, all of those and more count.

while canon couples are allowed, i may draw the line at couples like jim and pam from the office where there is a will-they-won't-they element, but the romance gets a lot of screen time devoted to it and is very explicitly romantic. jim/pam follows a very tried and true fictional straightcouple relationship trajectory and is very canon from the outset. individually, these traits might still be allowed, but many at once probably means it's a no go. i'm looking for ambiguity and uncertainty of the sort that is atypical for (canonically/ambiguously) straight characters, or those who seem to be at first

I Will Go Down With This Ship

and i won’t put up my hands and surrender

5 ships I’ll go down with, tagged by @mintresa Thank you so much lovely.

I don’t actually ship much? Unless you count the ones I ship with myself then the list is endless, but there are some exceptions. Think I might struggle with 5 tho.

1. STEREK (teen wolf)

Okay so straight up, I could take this ship in any way shape or form. Seriously, the amount of fanfiction I’ve read is testament to that. And I’m on season 5 of Teen Wolf so I know things now. Sterek Sterek Sterek. SEND ME FANFICSSSSS.  All the troupes, all the dynamics, all the feels. They just go so well together.

2. DATU & SAMANTHA (we’re alive)

So not many people seem to know about We’re Alive, it’s an audio drama about the zombie apocalypse and it’s seriously amazing. A completely original take on zombies seriously. You won’t regret listening to it (AND ITS FREE). Anyway, Datu is the kindest and greatest character in the whole thing and he gets captured. Waiting for death, he meets Samantha. It’s tragic but god, I’d ship Datu with anyone he’s interested in just ‘cause Datu is the bestest and deserves everything. 

3. DESTIEL (supernatural)

I have limited knowledge on supernatural, not gonna lie. But the fanfiction OMG. It was what brought me back into reading fanfiction actually. Cause of all the smutty smut. Dean and Cas make sweet sweet fanfiction together.

4. WILANA (hannibal)

I’m not up to date with Hannibal unfortunately, but I was rooting for this ship all of season 1 and 2. Will deserves it and Alana is so lovely they work well together IMHO. 

5. LEE & CLEMENTINE (the walking dead game)

NOT A ROMANTIC SHIP-just saying. (Spoilers for season 1) cause she’s a little kid and he ends up being her father figure and I’m not into that. I just think they should have always been together. In my game anyway, their bond was beautiful. Still not over it.
