A Final Ride Before the Wrecking Ball

Sometimes the places that mean the most aren't the biggest or the most famous.

After moving to Washington, my family found a new home at Wild Waves. We expected to spend years making memories there. Instead, we learned that the park's 2026 season will be its last, with plans to replace it with a massive warehouse.

This essay is about more than the closing of a theme park. It's about what communities lose when places built for joy, tradition, and family memories disappear in the name of progress.
