Will can be a little neurotic. Sam doesn't do enough to "maintain" Misa in his opinion so he has to butt in sometimes "what is that hat. no. your hair looks cute if you actually style it. take off the bucket hats"
All Misa hears is "cute" so he starts sending Will daily mirror selfies to get feedback on his outfits. Sam is oblivious until he chirps the leather jacket again and Misa defends it with "But Will said I can wear it with jeans and this shirt" uhhh okay why. when did he get an opinion. whatever
Misa accidentally fuelling the misawill feud for another year during summer training because he opened his mouth without thinking and said Hey Mack Are You Lonely Without Will Here? Like I Have Sam Here All Summer I Can't Imagine Missing Him The Whole Time! While Sam is making frantic cut-it-out hand gestures. Mack puts them through bonus hill sprints and then facetimes Will exhausted and on the edge of tears and rants about how nice it must be for Samisa to have each other nonstop would have been sooooo nice to have the option smitty just fucking saying eh!!! And Will is smart enough to work his way through Mack's six layers of bitchiness to determine that this is definitely Misa's fault and now Bedard also knows that Mack is pissed with him so he's going to have to deal with that in the future too #mynarratives

imo will should play in misa's line for a game for two very unserious yet highly entertaining reasons
1) the hockey nerd in me is really curious to see how will would adapt his game and what kind of plays mr special player making special plays for most special boybestfriend would create for the other golden center of the team and if they'd have any linemate chemistry
2) mack would absolutely fucking hate it and i think that'd be hilarious

Toffoli shenanigans and the Will/Misa place-on-the-team discussions aside (though I also yearn to yap about that!), I think about the Mack and Misa dynamic a lot. Like we don't really ever see Mack mention the guy? There was an interview early last season titled something about Mack being eager to mentor Misa and it's so not what he said or the vibes he gave at all. There's never talk of Mack working with him. You'd think he'd want to help build up someone who should be a huge factor in the Sharks rebuild Mack is so dead set on. I've only seen Misa saying it's great to be on the same team, Mack has good vibes, learns by watching him, etc.
There's been plenty of chatter that Misa is underused for a guy who went second overall and he's being overshadowed by Mack because everyone is. He's being overshadowed by a fourth overall former center too. It's not like Mack has to worry about Misa kicking him off the first line or anything, and Misa is too busy fighting for his life to stay centering the second line to try to replace Will on Mack's line.
It's all so interesting to me and I've never been able to put my finger on what that relationship might be like. Watching that dynamic next season could be interesting, especially now that we're about to add another second overall pick.

I’m 99.9% sure this is the first time my opinionated ass has ever said this on this blog- but I go back & forth on what I think the inter-Misa/Mack dynamic is actually like. The only thing I feel strongly about is that they most definitely respect each other both as players/ teammates on & off the ice.
I get the sense that they’re just the epitome of normal hockey bro teammates who like each other just fine & can have a good laugh off the ice. Do I think it’s likely that they’ll one day be caught sharing (1) sole icecream cone while staring lovingly into each other’s eyes as hot fudge drips down their respective sticky fingers *coughs loudly* no-no I do not.
Basically what I’m saying is I think they are perfectly normal about each other while being surrounded by people who are maybe not always normal about each other. Bless their hearts. (And Toff’s, too.)
guys mack was neverrrr winning the hart with the sharks out of the playoffs. call it a dumb rule, call it an arbitrary one (and i do), but the writers and reporters that vote for the hart have ALWAYS valued making the playoffs as a standard.
what we SHOULD be focusing on is mack’s ted lindsay nommy (truly an increddddd achievement and honor for a teenager!!). and the fact that with both macklin and dickie in switzerland for worlds. this is THE perfect opportunity for some willmisa hate sex, chateau de proxyfucking. with notes of infidelity (is it cheating if neither of you are technically in a relationship but also it kinda feels like you’re both married to other people? idk but will and mikey m are abt to find out)
