Interior Department targets wind farms over bird deaths. (Heatmap AM)
Read this story from Heatmap AM, then come back and read my prediction/fear. We know that trump hate wind farms. People "in the know" claim he hates them becausean offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland "ruin" the pristine ocean landscape view golfers (and others) would enjoy but for the wind turbines and their structures. Apparently he tried to stop the construction and has been continuing to do so, but the UK government, local Scottish officials and those who know trump basically told him to "stuff it."
So, he's pissed because he is being denied, and is taking his anger out at wind energy. He's been failing, but we all know he's been bringing up bird deaths as the reason for his anger. We all know that birds die when they get smacked by a wind turbine blade. The corporate and governmental owners of the wind farms have been ignoring his whining about the birds. But, oh, guess what? He can use the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty of 1918 and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act to punish the wind farms in the US or those that are subject to its jurisdiction. He controls the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the government agency (part of the Department of the Interior) that enforces the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Eagle Protection Act. He can demand that the USFWS enforce the Acts against the owners and perhaps order that a wind farm cease operation. That's how he gets even: he shuts them down, and gets his courts to agree with him.
The story from Heatmap AM:
The Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service is sending letters to wind developers across the U.S. asking for volumes of records about eagle deaths, indicating an imminent crackdown on wind farms under the auspices of bird protection laws, Heatmap’s Jael Holzman reported. The letters demand developers submit a laundry list of documents to the Service within 30 days, including “information collected on each dead or injured eagle discovered.”
The Trump administration has ramped up its assault on the wind industry in recent weeks, de-designating millions of acres of ocean for offshore wind development and yanking federal approvals for the Lava Ridge wind project in Idaho.
Then there's this, but trump will ignore it as he ignores all facts that run contrary to his perverse thinking:
