We’re just in time! Lore Sunday isn't over until we hit midnight! (On my timezone obviously~)
So it's now Azul's turn <3
Also known as the Winter Bat, she is an accountant that helps her found family with taxes along with many high profile clients.
Not even the Joker would mess with the IRS, but the IRS trembles when Azul pulls out the Excel spreadsheet. Pretty much a math nerd that actually has fun when doing numbers.
More doodles and lore down below~
She lives in a big fancy manor with her niece April Rain.
The little girl simply showed up at her door with a note from a friend overseas: "she's yours now, good luck!". She plays the role of her adoptive mother but April will refer to her as aunt/auntie (for now).
Any attempts to get the girl back home or even contact the friend had failed, and Azul wasn’t going to kick out the homeless child. Thus, Azul welcomed her into her life with open wings.
She has a big love for anime and cosplay. But will never dress up outside the privacy of her bedroom as she has severe self-esteem issues.
The Winter Bat always loves a good cup of tea instead of coffee. Perfect to warm up on cold winter nights but without having caffeine-induced anxiety attacks.
Her favorite genre in any piece of media will always be romantic comedy.
She's currently dating @umbreow‘s Baret, an adorable jackalope bunny that quickly became the bunny of her dreams.
Azul lacks a green thumb, or any knowledge on plant care whatsoever, but will be fully supportive of her boyfriend's passion.
She luckily found someone who makes her feel comfortable enough to go full nerd on her hyper-fixations without feeling ashamed.
I would have liked if she had been used in some story line where Kara somehow met her grandmother (either through one of them time traveling or in a story line similar to the Kandor Clones on Smallville), but since Kara is going away soon and I don’t care about Superman meeting his family without the Kryptonian context that is Kara...I am completely here for Wallis Day doing a Winter Bat storyline.
Even though I was initially pissed when I read that they were bringing in an OC to be the new Batwoman instead of just recasting Kate, I am liking Ryan as Batwoman, but it would be cool to have two Batwomen or have Neo-Kate take the non-existant Bette Kane’s place as Flamebird (could even be how they explain having a Kane with a new face since Kate is dead once the whole Winter Bat storyline is over just call her Bette).
I don’t really think that they should just give her back the Cowl at the end of the storyline for multiple reasons.
1) She’s about to do terrible things and whether she gets her memories back or not she is never going to be the same Kate Kane again. I don’t think Arrow ever really came back from the Oliver turned on his team and joined the League of Assassins storyline because they never really properly addressed it’s long term ramifications and this is their chance to do that story right.
2) Ryan has earned her place. Another way that Arrow pissed me off that Batwoman has a chance to avoid. When Oliver retired for like five minutes he left the hood to Diggle and they had like 2 episodes where they let him have the role where he was struggling with the role, but slowly figuring it out. Then Oliver came back and Diggle was a little put off by being displaced, but the show didn’t really take it seriously and after a little while it was never brought up again. Not even when Oliver was in prison and another Green Arrow appeared. Hell, she turned out to be a villain and she was given more of a storyline as Green Arrow than the man who Oliver left the hood to. Batwoman has a chance to actually stick to their guns and let one of their legacies be actually passed on (the last Green Arrow passing of the baton doesn’t count, since the CW chickened out of that one too).
And today we bring a short one but still special! It'll be a mini series of comics explaining the relationship between the Seasonal Bats and how they ended up working in the same place.
This week features Azul and her motives for working for the Autumn Bat. Morale of the story? Don't get between Azul and her beloved green tea.
