Rereading The Catcher in the Rye.
winter reads - december 2025 to february 2026
I’m not a fan of winter. I hate the cold and the darkness and I’ve been anxious for spring since late November. So this year I decided to embrace the season and focus on reading (or re-reading) books on my TBR with a winter setting. And coincidentally, the rereads fit perfectly with the January Re-readathon by @logarithmicpanda!
The books above:
Snowblooded by Emma Sterner-Radley
The Wood At Midwinter by Susanna Clarke ❄️
The Glass Woman by Caroline Lea ❄️
North is the Night by Emily Rath
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett (reread)
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (reread)
Additionally, as a library ebook:
Drive Your Plow Over The Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk ❄️
❄️ = finished already
bonus: look at the gorgeous sprayed edges on North is the Night!
need an absolutely miserable, devastating (preferably gay) holiday/winter book akin to these violent delights & the holdovers that feels like all of phoebe bridgers’ christmas singles. and also like the ending scene of call me by your name.
and also a little bit of tis the damn season by taylor swift.
any suggestions??
the start to my winter tbr
My Winter TBR
༻ ❀ • ❀ • ❀ ༺
The first university semester of the year is coming to a close, winter break is fast approaching, and with it my chance to read more than I have in months.
My (temporary) freedom is only a week and one research essay away so, as the truly unemployed individual I am, I’m making this list to share what I have planned to read over my winter break!
I do have to say i’m appreciating Australian universities closing over the June-July period because it means I don’t have to slog across campus in the cold and the rain. And thankfully, I’m yet to make my transition from the arts faculty into the science degree I plan to move into, so I don’t have exams! Huzzah!

Anyway, here is my current winter TBR list (not my entire existing TBR, just what I plan to read over winter!):
• This Woven Kingdom (Tahereh Mafi) • These Infinite Threads (Tahereh Mafi) • All This Twisted Glory (Tahereh Mafi) • Every Spiral of Fate (Tahereh Mafi) • An Enchantment of Ravens (Margaret Rogerson) • Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries (Heather Fawcett) • Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands (Heather Fawcett) • Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales (Heather Fawcett) • The Sun and the Starmaker (Rachel Griffin)

PS: I just ordered an Enchantment of Ravens because it was recommended by one of my favourite book influencers thejayceelane, if you like fun book recommendation content I highly suggest checking her Insta or TikTok out!!
My Gothic Winter TBR 🕯️ gothic classics, poetry, and more
December 2022 TBR
Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong
Tampa by Alissa Nutting
The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
Living Beyond Borders by Margarita Longoria
My desire to reread my favourites and my need to finish my ever-growing tbr are at war and there are going to be no survivors.
