Untamed Winter Fest - Day 7: Relax
Once upon a time, Lan Wangji hadn’t minded business trips, they hadn’t been his favorite, but they had been okay, especially after he had gotten married and Wei Ying would come with him.
Wangji would take care of whatever business was pending, and Wei Ying would explore around during the day, and afterwards they would take a couple of days to sight-see together.
But now they had A-Yuan, who was still too young to travel easily, so these days Wei Ying stayed home with their baby. Oh, Wei Ying called him, and video-chatted with him all the time, but it wasn’t the same.
Thankfully, now he was home.
“Wei Ying?” He called as he took off his coat and dropped his luggage.
There was no answer, but listening carefully, Lan Zhan head a soft snore coming from the direction of the living room.
Moving quietly, he followed the sound to find his husband sprawled on the couch, one arm under his head as a pillow, the other wrapped around their son, who also slept peacefully.
They were the picture of utter relaxation, cuddled together on the couch, with a fireplace casting golden shadows over the two of them.
Quickly, Wangji pulled out his phone to capture the moment – by this time tomorrow, he would have the picture framed and proudly displayed on his desk at work – and just in time too, as Wei Ying started to blink himself awake. “Lan Zhan?” He asked sleepily.
“When did you get here? We were waiting for you.” Wei Ying said, slowly and carefully raising to sit up, while still cradling A-Yuan. “But fell asleep.”
“No, we had plans! A-Yuan and I made you a welcome home banner!”
“I was gone 5 days,” Lan Zhan said but accepted the colorful banner, marked with little handprints from Lan Yuan and Wei Ying’s wild cursive.
“5 Days too long!” Wei Ying pouted while Lan Zhan joined them on the couch, scooting a little awkwardly as to not wake up their son.
“5 days too long.” Lan Zhan agreed, noticing the dark circles under Wei Ying’s eyes, which surely matched his own. They didn’t sleep well when they were apart, which was probably why they had fallen asleep on the couch, knowing he was coming soon.
Lan Zhan carefully brought his husband and son into his arms, feeling them relax against him and allowing his own muscles to unlock. It felt so good to be home.
