the winter wren is a small wren found throughout the eastern united states, the southern portion of canada, and a small range in mexico. they primarily feed on insects and arachnids, but take seeds during harsh winter months. while typically they sleep alone, in small crevices or nests, in winter they may roost in pairs or in large groups. they are identifiable to those who love them by their notable pale ‘eyebrows’ and chipper song.
