Happy WIP Progress Sunday! What sort of progress have you made during the past on your WIP(s)? Are you happy with your progress?

This week I’ve only managed about 1500 words on the draft, and about 40% of one minor “country section” of the WorldAnvil (some tech, some royal families, some economics...) which does not make me terribly happy...  but! I did add three finished portraits to the little gallery, and started the colorwork on two more, which does!  [image is a contact sheet style overview of 12 portraits, 5 feminine, 5 masculine, and two ambiguous, of varied skin tones and facial features, 7 fully rendered and 5 in progress. The portraits are shown in a dark ProCreate window, rendered in a “romantic” style in scroll-like frames.]

Happy WPS! How has this week's writing experience been for you? Have you reached any milestones or checkpoints with your writing? Did you meet with any obstacles, and if so, how did you handle them? How are you feeling about your WIP this week?

I forgot to answer this yesterday so whoops I guess it’s WIP Progress Monday now

I actually haven’t written that much last week, but I did belatedly designate it as a break week (as I wrote quite a bit the week or two before that) so it wasn’t that disappointing.

There haven’t been any milestones/checkpoints, and the biggest challenge has been getting myself to actually write. I’ve kind of had a less rigid schedule and that means that I waste a lot more time, as evidenced by the fact that I somehow found more time to do writing when I had a course than now, when I don’t. This was part of the reason I decided just to make last week a break week.

I’m going to try and get over it in this upcoming week, especially since I had a bit of a revelation about how some things should go in some WIPs (which make the flow a lot better imo) and also because I’ve been regaining interest in another WIP.

So if I answered this yesterday, I would’ve said I was feeling fairly neutral, but now I’m actually feeling excited to write.

WIP Progress Sunday! Do you have a favourite/worst line to share this week?

I hope I’m not terribly late with this answer, I didn’t get a notification for it!

The only thing I’ve written this week is a sort of “script” for a presentation I’m giving on music and storytelling for a music composition class. So I’ll just give you my favorite line from that I guess?

You don’t necessarily need lyrics for music to be an effective tool. This is especially the case when a song is focused around an emotion or a feeling. Complex emotions can be difficult to describe in words, but easy to describe with music.

That being said, I haven’t done much writing, but I got a lot of new worldbuilding done for Destined for Grayness (I think I finally figured out angels and demons and how all that works!)

Happy WIP Progress Sunday! - @jynecca Is there something you’re particular proud of from this week? Something you’re disappointed with?

Thank you so much for this ask! I’m so sorry I didn’t answer your ask last week that was quite rude of me (the answer to that one was no both last week and this week; I haven’t been writing many humourous moments or characters lately).

Actually writing wise, I’m proud of my response to the prompt for ‘vengeful ghosts’ because it didn’t go anywhere near the way I expected it to and it took some tries but I’m really happy with how it turned out. 

In other news, I had a really good meeting with my dissertation supervisor this week who told me that I’m really close to being finished with the fiction part of the diss and just need very minor edits rather than another redraft. He also said my narrative framing was executed perfectly and I’m still feeling incredibly pleased with myself about that even though this was on Thursday.

I’m disappointed with my work for my other module, for which I’m supposed to be writing an extract from a murder mystery. I love the genre and have read a million and one examples but it is so difficult to write one myself. I think part of it is the style of narration I was attempting so I might just have to try a different style. Writing diary-style seems to be almost as hard as writing the investigation itself.

WIP Progress Sunday! How has your writing been this week? Have you been motivated/ procrastinating etc?

This week has been one of the most productive weeks I’ve had this year for my WIP. I finally got the chance to sit down and actually think without being distracted by schoolwork.

So, I’d like to say that I’ve been pretty motivated. I got around to writing that fight scene I’ve been procrastinating on for at least a month which is really good. I’m hoping to have another chapter done by tonight.

Plus, I’ve constructed playlists for my characters, which is also great. I’ll post it when I actually write it down.

Not since Tuesday! Unless you count trying to outline a new WIP, changing the plot half-way through, rereading it and adding a few new details, then having to rewrite it because that damn plot changed again :P
