Who is the older brother or sister? Legend or Fable And who is the younger brother or sister? Legend or Fable

Legend and Fable are twins! (And to actually answer your question: technically, Fable’s older :) )

And while I’m at it, I might as well clear up the relative ages of some other Wisdomverse siblings.

Prince Hansen is canonically older than Echo!

I’m following the AoL manual’s text, which explicitly states that he’s Zelda’s older brother. He just… looks young in this depiction, loll. I draw him a bit older than this for WV!

(Note that, after EoW, he’s mentally about the same age as Echo, since he spent two years in stasis after falling into the Still World in Echo of the Past. This may explain his youth :) .)

I don’t mind either way, but I like to write Linkle as older than Wars!

They’re not canonically related at all, but the idea that they would be siblings was apparently briefly considered during development. I like it, and nothing in the game disproves it, so I consider it canon to WV.

I like to think Linkle, as the older sibling, was always convinced she would be the hero— and that’s why she stayed back in the village, while Wars went off to enlist in the army as a common soldier. Wars was shocked when Artemis identified him as the hero. He kinda thought that whole hero business was just a delusion. Linkle was shocked when she found out, and eventually reconciled herself with the fact that she’s still a hero, if not the hero.

They’re only about a year apart in age, imo.

The Colors don’t really have canon ages— but I like to think their ages go in reverse of the order the Elements are infused into the Four Sword in Minish Cap, with Green at the head. Like the personalities were split in LIFO order.

So Green’s the oldest, followed by Blue, then Red, then Vio.

Vio is a little miffed that he’s the youngest, but he doesn’t really mind that much. And that doesn’t stop all of them from being protective of Red, including Vio.

Wind and his little sister Aryll form the second actually canon sibling pair in this list (Echo and Hansen are the first), but…

The original BotW concept art also gave Wild an unnamed little sister! I’m definitely not the one who first discovered this or decided to use it, but I’ve kept it canon to WV in this one small line here:

I like to think her name was also Aryll (since she’s the younger sister of a Link). Edit: Graciously borrowing @kiriekonamistan’s idea that her name was Rally!

Whoever she was, it’s likely that Wild doesn’t remember much of her— and she likely died during the 100 years since the Calamity 🥲

do you have a name for Echo’s brother? Or is he just The Prince

Hahaha okay, I do kind of have a name for him, but I haven’t decided if I’m set on it yet. Y’all feel free to let me know what you think.

Tl;dr at the bottom.

For context, I didn’t want to give him the same name as one of the Kings of Hyrule. All the Kings have different names anyways. But I did want it to be kinda similar, as a reference.

Here are all named Kings (afaik):

Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule [Wind Waker]: The guy old fans think of when they think of a king of Hyrule. Wind’s snarky old man companion. Can turn into a boat. Requiem’s descendant— I like to think he’s Requiem’s son. Tetra’s ancestor.

Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule [BotW]: The guy new fans think of when they think of a king of Hyrule. Flora’s father. Strict, but only because he decided that he has to be. He chooses to put his country’s safety over his daughter’s happiness. His choice turned out badly, but honestly, I can’t fault him for his decision, given what he knew at the time.

Daltus [Minish Cap]: Dot’s dad. A nice guy, gives off bumbling old man vibes, a little? He gets one-shot by Vaati’s attack that eight year old Dot effortlessly sweeps aside, iirc (though Dot is also kind of an eldritch badass so it’s not really his fault). He gets possessed by Vaati for a bit as well, though that’s also not his fault.

Gustav [Minish Cap]: Daltus and Dot’s ancestor. Sun and Sky’s descendant. I like to think he was king or prince during the Second Imprisoning War against Proto Ganon, and was friends with the Hero of Men. He was canonically good friends with the Wind Tribe, who I’d like to believe are the descendants of the people who stayed behind on Skyloft.

So— names for AoL’s prince.

Funnily enough, I originally had him in my notes as “Hansen Nodaphnes Hyrule,” as a reference to the King of Red Lions. This was supposed to just be a meme, but it’s been a while now, and I’ve genuinely been calling him Hansen in my head? I’m kinda set on it now 😆.

And I always mess up and call Dot’s father Dalton instead of Daltus, so I’m considering just making Echo’s dad’s name “Dalton Gustavio Hyrule”

Tl;dr: I’ve been calling Echo’s brother Hansen because of a meme. I’m keeping it unless I think of something better.

Hello there! I have some minor confusion regarding your echoes of wisdom Zelda specifically regarding Wisdomverse.

From I what I see of your comic, the backstory in the AoL manual is almost entirely correct (in universe, that the story was kept correctly by Impa's family) to what actually happened with Echo's curse, including the king. I'd assume that part of the thought process was specifically because of the King. (I also must admit I don't know as much about cadence of Hyrule as I would like to. Actually I know nothing about CoH lol.)

But if I remember correctly from Echoes of Wisdom, the main goal in act two was to get an item that looks identical to the triforce. I can't remember its name for the life of me my god. But it was the triforce, and its name was completely different. I think that would be just because it was forgotten. I lost my train of thought fuck.

Anyway, my big thought was: isn't it a big part of the backstory of AoL that the king of Hyrule has the full triforce? And that the prince did all the shit he did for the purpose of getting the triforce? Because by echoes of wisdom it seems like all the old stories have been forgotten or muddled somehow, but in AoL they use the same name for the triforce. So how did that whole situation work?

Also less important but: how does it seem like so much information from Legend's games was lost by the time of Echoes of Wisdom? Though this is a problem I have with the timeline as a whole. How Alttp has very little impact from the sages of OoT besides the confusing situation with the maidens that I don't know as much about. But then a lot of the towns in AoL are named after OoT sages. But actually this question is less for you and more for TloZ as a whole. Actually ignore this just a thought for consideration.

Anyway my god holy yap, TLDR: how does the king not have the full triforce in Wisdomverse's Echoes of Wisdom if he's said to have it in AoL's backstory?

Hey there, thanks for asking. The answers for all of these are available already, and the things you’ve pointed out about canon have already been fixed in Wisdomverse!

I’ll write them out and link things here for clarity; no problem! Been a while since some of these were last answered, I expect newer folks may not have seen them.

Starting from the easy stuff:

What was the Triforce called in EoW again?

The Prime Energy!

Why and how did the Triforce’s name get obscured?

Irl, the devs probably chose it just to avoid confusion between the Triforce and Tri. In-universe, I don’t think the name is obscured at all: I bet it’s still known as the Triforce, it’s just also called the Prime Energy now. Things can have multiple names! I address this in the page below.

I also don’t think much information was lost from Legend’s era. It’s been a while, but not too long. The whole ALttP map is still pretty much there in EoW!

How does the King not have the Full Triforce in Wisdomverse EoW?

He does! Not sure why you think he doesn’t.

Or, to be more precise— In the official AoL manual, the King doesn’t have the Triforce, Zelda does, and the same applies to Wisdomverse.

In the official manual, the King is dead by that point.

I’ve chosen to keep the King alive (but ill) at that point for Wisdomverse. Here’s the reasoning for that.

And yeah, pretty much everything else is the same as in the manual for this part. Echo’s older brother threatens her for the Triforce; she refuses to tell him.

I’ve merely added more reasoning to her decision: she refuses because she knows the Prince is unbalanced and will cause the Triforce to split into three and scatter again, like it did in EoW. There are a few rules to using the Triforce, imo, and this is one of them (I’ll write a whole post about what it takes to use the Triforce and every time it has been used at some point.) Echo is also pretty sure that the Wizard her brother is working with is evil. And she was right.

Why, in the canon timeline, are the sages in ALttP so different from OoT?

I agree. Especially since they go back to being OoT-like in ALBW. Fortunately, I’ve fixed this in Wisdomverse with this post about the ALBW|ALttP sages merge!

Why are some of the towns in AoL named after the sages in OoT?

I’ve got a solution for this one too! Check out the first part of the Prologue of Time’s Refrain for some hints about what’s going on there.

I have to ask do you think Echo's dad is still alive when she gets cursed? And if he is what do you think his reaction would be to what his son did?

Great question!!!

The Adventure of Link backstory does state that Echo’s father died before the Prince started searching for the Triforce.

However, I’m actually leaning toward keeping him alive at the moment.

There are a few reasons for this:

This particular King of Hyrule is explicitly mentioned and has a role in all three of Echo’s games (Echoes of Wisdom, Cadence of Hyrule, Adventure of Link). Three games is a lot for a King of Hyrule! Most kings are barely mentioned in one game.

Most other mainline kings of Hyrule die off in their stories (WW, BotW). Fable’s father dies in ALttP, gets revived by the end of the game, but then is never mentioned again in the rest of the three games Fable is in— so I figure he died before ALBW, like Legend’s uncle. I think Sun and Dot are the only ones whose fathers are still alive (maybe also Lullaby; though leaning no on this one), but Sun’s father is not a king, and Dot’s relationship with her dad is very different. Even Dot’s father is only mentioned in one of her three games. So I think I’d like Echo’s father to be different— especially from Fable. It would be cool if he was still alive.

Echo’s father also has a consistent character in all three games— he’s always noted to be a kind and benevolent king who does the best for his people and takes decisive action when needed, but despite his desire to help, lacks the ability to stop the encroaching threat (EoW rifts; CoH Octavo’s sleep spell; AoL the Wizard manipulating the Prince). In a way, his characterization is similar to King Daphnes (WW) before he died (though with less snark lol).

That said, I don’t think Echo’s father is at full health by the time Echo gets cursed.

Perhaps he’s ill, perhaps he’s just had a heart attack out of stress and is bedridden. The King still rules the kingdom while the Prince only aids him; and this adds to the sense of impotency that has been building up within the Prince all this time. Maybe the Prince initially began looking for the Triforce to heal his father— to be the hero for once— though obviously, that didn’t quite go as planned.

The king’s reaction to the curse… hm. No anger, no frustration, I think— just an overwhelming sense of despair. He’s so very tired. He’s lost his wife already. For a few years, he thought he lost his son. And now, just when everything was finally going well, he’s lost his daughter. Silent was like another son to him, but the Prince’s actions have caused Silent to partially lose trust in the royal family, and the king understands, but regrets that deeply.

Tl;dr: Echo’s father gets a role in all three of her games. I may change my mind later, but for now, I think he deserves to live past her curse.
