These are my first ever finished digital paintings and I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing this after all the nights I was thinking to just cancel this whole thing off. Got a lot more to learn about digital painting, but I worked so hard on this and was so excited to finish it. So, finally, here's my sixfanarts entry! Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones . A charming little piece of fantasy, as whimsical as it is heartwarming. I loved the mixing of worlds and the use of the Dunn poem which hides at the centre of the story, surfacing occasionally to remind you of its presence. 💜💚Howls Moving Castle is one of my favourite young adult fantasy novels. 💚💜 Wizard Howl is one of the funniest and most outrageous fictional characters in fantasy and I honestly wish I’d read this book when I was around 9-12 because I only read it a year ago for a children’s lit elective I took at university. It’s the basis of the beautiful Studio Ghibli anime by the same name, but it’s very very different from it and I think the book and anime should be judged separately. I personally prefer book Howl because he’s way more interesting and whimsical, and undeniably endearing and articulate despite his folly. I found Sophie highly relatable and a very entertaining main character, her argumentative dynamic with Howl is really the best part of the book. They’re adorable together. Another illustration from Howl's Moving Castle. Was really pleased with the posing of the Dogman and the boy; they translated well from the original sketch but this was the best I could do with Howl after many reitirations.
