Rise of the Titans

Just finished watching this film and I am reeling.

I-

I actually don’t know what to think of it.

This is final story of the Tales of Arcadia saga and it was a mixed bag for me.

First of all, the ANIMATION.

My God it was absolutely gorgeous, the details were immaculate and they made the effort in making new locations and new character models. There’s so much weight and you could practically feel every hit and fall being shown in this movie.

AND THE TITANS?! 

Perfection.

But back to the other parts. 

I cannot and I repeat- I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME BELIEVE THAT THEY MADE STEVE FUCKING PALCHUK PREGNANT 

WHAT THE EVER LOVING HELL WAS THAT?!

How could they ever think that THAT was a great idea to put in their FINALE??? Were they smoking something? I JUST DON’T UNDERSTA-

Anyways, Eli got a glow up, guess that’ll happen to one who becomes an ambassador while being a teen. 

In all seriousness though, Eli Pepperjack and Steve Palchuk were done dirty by this film. They really deserved better. In fact, almost everyone deserved better. Except for Claire, she’s had enough screen time. 

The whole Krohnisfere subplot was a waste and I wish they could have interacted with the trolls and their Troll Market there but noooo. They just HAD to have another east asian dictator who was so forgettable and wasted with his character design just because they’re in Hong Kong. 

This is their one and only movie, not to mention their finale and yet they made the conscious decision to put in “comedic” elements that wasted the limited time they could afford. It’s infuriating.

It’s like this series could not decide what it is until the end. They have already proven multiple times that it could be- no, should be a mature show. The deaths and brutality shown were enough to make take into account that they didn’t need overly drawn out nonsensical comedy that breaks the pacing and plot. 

And while I am glad that Toby got more screentime and his huge role in the series was acknowledge (I bawled my eyes out when he died), I have mixed feelings regarding him being the Trollhunter in the new timeline. It fits in its own way but at this point it was too risky to change everything. Maybe Toby will achieve something Jim can’t but who knows? I guess maybe that’s the point? I don’t know anymore. 

But hey, there’s a chance that Draal could be saved in this timeline!

All in all Rise of the Titans was a decent(?) finale and I was just along for the ride at this point because that’s what Tales of Arcadia is to me, a high budget show with great concepts, great animation, great music and decent character designs but with some mediocre results in the gaps of the story. 

It was a wild ride and while this series continued to disappoint me, it had it’s moments, because when it hits right, it hits hard. I will miss everyone and that is a testament to this show.

So, here’s to you Tales of Arcadia, you wonderful mess of a saga.

SKRAEL PLUSH IS DONE! So after finishing wizards I was just drawn to this guy’s simplistic yet striking design.

I then thought to myself how funny it would be to make a plush out of him. I just find this guy hilariously cool. Scrawny, a little shit. And so I did. He’s made out of felt fabrics. I used color pencil for the blue blush on his features. His poncho is leftover black fabric I got my from my Abuela. The skull head—made from modeling foam—was sculpted by my bro, and then I painted it with acrylics. I used actual thread to weave around the horns! The finished result made me realize I’ve gotten better at plushes since I started, like WOW.

This guy could be a great Halloween decor.
